AITA for refusing to "help" my parents work in a takeaway?

2020.09.26 18:18 Dr4g0San AITA for refusing to "help" my parents work in a takeaway?

First of all, i am on a phone typing this so i may have a lot of typos.
Background: Me and my parents (Me: 16M, Nationality - Full Chinese, My Parents 39-40 also full Chinese, siblings - 2M and 10F) am living in the UK. Posting Date: 26th of september 2020. I moved to the UK when I was 5 (2010).
I started helping my parentd and relatives around 2018 in a restaurant, that the relatives own, waiting tables while my parents works in the kitchen. I was ok at that time, until i moved an hour or two from where I used to live (From North Wales to Manchester).
We started with a quiet takeaway And my parents were able to work their way up. I had to give them £140 from my own pockets which was earned by my uncle from working in the restaurant (where i lived) to help them get started. I "Helped" them for almost a year now and never got paid back because "you work for getting your living expenses paid."
Massive skip in time: it was around may of 2020 when i started to get really annoyed with my parents calling me out of nowhere to do less and less stuff, like when it isnt that busy, one customer would come in and they call me to "help" them. the orders the customer orders arent that long and still calls me like its filled with 5 customers and full of different foods that needs cooking. This happens EVERY SINGLE DAY, once every 2 hours on a weekday and like 3 times every 20-30 minutes. The internet gets switched off 2am in the morning and I can't switch it back on until they do around 12pm in the afternoon, which im normally in school. (They need the plug so they can get calls from customers from a business telephone, which also connects to the broadband internet.)
I barely have enough time to do homework when I get assigned online homework. And if you think that i would get an allowence? Ha, You're funny. NO I didn't. they would normally buy me clothes when I never requested for clothes and tells me to work my A** (Butt) off to repay the money that I Owe them for buying me clothes.
Yestersay (25th september), (I'm also in college now) me and my parents had an arguement and I wouldn't help them, which then went into a massive arguement of me leaving and my mother telling me to go live in the streets. I couldn't take it and ran into my room and tried starving myself and didnt want to come out of my own room. I cried, fainted (I think, cause i normally stay under my blanket and suffocate from lack of oxygen) and woke up multiple times until it was 6am, which i cheered myself by surfing on the internet with my own data.
I don't know what else i need to add, so if you would like extra information, request it below and i would see if i could add edits and add extra information for you.

2020.09.25 17:03 CrumbAllowances The Rumour XI of players linked to Manchester United

Hi everyone!
The transfer window always seems to be an exceptionally difficult one for Man United fans. Not only does our recruitment team regularly snatch defeat from the jaws of victory by turning open-and-shut transfers to drawn out 'sagas', but every two-bit agent desperate to get their client a new contract or tabloid seeking to fill its back pages bandies the club's name about with abandon. Over the years, we have seen countless players linked to the club, with some links more spurious than others. As such, this is my attempt to create the Manchester United Ultimate Rumour XI - a team of players linked to us only by transfer rumour and gossip.
In general, my criteria to make the team is two-fold - 1) how good was the player and 2) how intense were the rumours? Intensity of rumour involves both quantity (how often you were linked to United) and quality (how 'reliable' the rumours were). Also, the following categories of player are disqualified from the list.
  1. Those who joined United eventually after a prolonged rumour churn (Ander Herrera, Bruno Fernandes, Jadon Sanch ... oh.)
  2. Those who United made an approach for, but were rebuffed by the player or club (Ivan Perisic, Erling Haaland, Sergio Ramos)
  3. Those who United made a successful approach for, but eventually chose not to sign for some godforsaken reason (Thiago, Toni Kroos, [sad clown noises])
The XI also entirely comes from the post-Fergie era. This is due to a number of factors - the recency effect, the insane proliferation of bullshit transfer rumours in the SEO and social media age, and the general perception that Fergie and Gill/Kenyon were far more competent in securing targets. So without further preamble ...
GK - Jasper Cillessen
So this list doesn't start very auspiciously. Is this really the best goalkeeper we have been linked with? As far as I can tell in my limited Google research, the answer is yes. The reason behind this is simple - we've had an all-time great number 1 for about a decade now. Even now when DDG appears to be slipping, there's a perfect replacement in Henderson right behind him. But cast your mind back to the 2015 transfer window, when De Gea was a dodgy fax machine away from joining Real Madrid. With Louis van Gaal as manager, a year after his Dutch team made 3rd place at the World Cup, it made sense that Cillessen would replace the departing de Gea. Of course, Dave stayed, and Cillessen moved on to sit on the bench at Barcelona for three years before moving on to Valencia. There were minor rumours of us making a move for him in 2019 before de Gea signed his new contract, but I think it's safe to say that Jasper Cillessen will not be rocking up between the Old Trafford sticks any time soon.
Sample Transfer Rumour - https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/manchester-united/11673982/Who-is-Manchester-United-target-Jasper-Cillessen.html
RB - Fabinho
Yes I know, he's primarily known as a defensive midfielder with the scum, but prior to that move, Fabinho was a more than competent right back for Rio Ave and occasionally played that role for Monaco. Plus we really have not been linked to many good right backs, and signed the last one we were linked with, so he is the best choice. There was a good amount of buzz about Fabinho joining United back in the summer 2018, when it was clear that Jose Mourinho was looking for a defensive midfielder. However, this gossip largely came from foreign sources, including a bona fide Tier 1 in Bouhafsi, with English Tier 1s and 2s insisting that Mourinho's real targets were Nemanja Matic and Eric Dier. As we now know, the English sources were correct, United signed Matic, and Fabinho moved on to some other club and never did anything worthwhile with his career ever again.
Sample Transfer Rumour (with Bouhafsi tweet embedded) - https://www.sportsjoe.ie/football/man-united-fabinho-161193
LB - Danny Rose
Back in 2017, Danny Rose made waves by criticising Spurs' transfer policy, calling on the club to stop signing 'players you have to Google'. This, along with reported dissatisfaction with Tottenham's low wage ceiling, compatriot Kyle Walker's mega-millions move to Manchester City, and a supposed desire to return to the north of England, led to a spate of transfer rumours linking him to United. Not only was he England's starting left back, but he was precisely what the club had been looking for since Evra left - pacy, exciting, and equally competent in attack and defence. Plus, Jose Mourinho was famously unconvinced by Luke Shaw, so this was a move that made all the sense in the world. However, said move never materialised, most likely because a Daniel Levy-Ed Woodward negotiation would have been a total massacre. Rose has continued to mouth off at Spurs over the years, and against all odds still remains contracted to them, barring an unsuccessful six month loan to Newcastle in January 2020.
Sample Transfer Rumour - https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2712476-manchester-united-transfer-news-danny-rose-interest-reported-latest-rumours
CB - Ezequiel Garay
The mascot (along with the players in AM and RW) of this team, Garay is the rare player in this list who dates back to the Fergie era, and proceeded to be linked to us for what feels like time immemorial. The majority of these rumours came from Portuguese sources (renowned for their unreliability) stemming from his time in Benfica, though he would continue to be linked to us even after moving to Zenit and Valencia. Looking back, it seemed like Garay probably had a hell of an agent who knew that tossing our name into any situation would get him attention or a new contract, but the player himself actually claimed in 2013 that he was set to join United until Fergie left and Moyes took over. It's also unsurprising that the Garay rumour had legs for so long, considering that we seem to be perennially looking for a left footed ball playing centre back. Thank goodness that position is no longer a problem, eh?
Sample Transfer Rumour - https://www.goal.com/en-my/news/3956/transfer-zone/2013/10/14/4332222/garay-moyes-closed-down-manchester-united-move
CB - Toby Alderweireld
As Jose Mourinho entered his now infamously tumultuous third season in the summer of 2018, he felt that his 2nd place squad was a ball-playing centre back away from a true title challenge. There were two rumoured targets - Harry Maguire of Leicester City, who would cost crazy money, and Toby Alderweireld of Tottenham Hotspur, who could cost crazy money but for two reasons - he was already 29, and there was a 25 million pound release clause on his contract that would kick in next season. Surely it wouldn't be that difficult to convince Daniel Levy, a man who has the words 'financial prudence' tattooed on his chest, to part with an asset that would rapidly depreciate in value? Apparently the answer was no, and United never made an approach for Alderweireld, or for any centre back. Jose Mourinho flamed out spectacularly, Alderweireld signed a new deal at Spurs (thus removing the release clause), and the two eventually ended up together, except in white instead of red.
Sample Transfer Rumour - https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/may/21/jose-mourinho-targers-summer-move-for-toby-alderweireld-manchester-united-tottenham-hotspur
CM - Sergej Milinković-Savić
This one has been rumbling on for a few years now, and will probably continue chugging along the next time Paul Pogba has a bad run of form or Mino Raiola says something incendiary. The SMS transfer rumour has always been inherently linked to the Pogba one. It's the typical 2+2=5 bullshit of silly season. Pogba wants out. SMS is a physically imposing midfielder with no lack of technical skill. Hey, just like Pogba! So this means Manchester United must be looking to sign Milinković-Savić to replace the outgoing Pogba, right? Right? The only snag to this, of course, is that Pogba still remains at Man United, is rumoured to be discussing an extension to his contract, while SMS continues to perform impressively at Lazio. This rumour has been peddled by no less of an authority than Gianluca Di Marzio, who, in one of his most shameful moments, put up on his website in 2019 that we were going to bid 80 million euros for SMS only to surreptitiously take it down a few hours later.
Sample Transfer Rumour (reporting on the Di Marzio report) - http://thepeoplesperson.com/2019/07/12/gianluca-di-marzio-manchester-united-ready-to-launch-e80m-sergej-milinkovic-savic-bid-207850/
CM - Arturo Vidal
Oh this one stings. Prior to the signing of Pogba, central midfield was a giant gaping hole in the club, with the early promise of Cleverley and Anderson not paying off. Ander Herrera was signed and Michael Carrick was still his usual reliable self, but there was little beyond them and the still-yet-to-convince Marouane Fellaini. Arturo Vidal was one of the best midfielders in the world, and had been fantastic for Jorge Sampaoli's Chilean team at the World Cup. Here was the player United had been needing for a long time, a midfielder with the dynamism, technique and mentality not seen since the young Roy Keane. However, regardless of all the buzz (and Juventus's seeming willingness to well), United never made a move, possibly because Vidal was coming off a serious knee injury and his all-action style would not be a good fit for LVG's possession-based football. The Vidal rumour shockingly resurfaced this(!) year, but it was largely pushed by shit-tier sources, and the Chilean has now secured a move to Inter, where he has finally fulfilled his lifelong dream of playing with Ashley Young.
Sample Transfer Rumour - https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2014/aug/18/arturo-vidal-manchester-united-louis-van-gaal-juventus
AM - Wesley Sneijder
The god-king himself, the MVP of the Rumour Squad, the man whose transfer rumour turned into a meme, yes, it's none other than Wesley Sneijder. Like Garay, the rumour began in the Fergie-era, where rumours linked him to United as part of a swap-deal for Cristiano Ronaldo. This particular rumour proceeded to churn for the better part of a decade with less and less relevance each time. van Gaal is United manager? Hey guess what, Sneijder was in his Dutch team! He's definitely coming now! Mourinho is United manager? Well didn't they win a treble together? He's definitely coming now! The utter ridiculousness of this rumour can best be encapsulated by the fact that it kept going even when Sneijder was at Galatasaray, clearly far below United's (and his own former) level, and looking increasingly more injury-prone. Yet the bullshit was non-stop, and now that Wesley is retired (and looking pretty chunky), I can't wait to hear in three months how we are looking to sign him to be our mythical Director of Football.
Sample Transfer Rumour - https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11667/8542407/wesley-sneijder-claims-inter-milan-prevented-him-from-joining-manchester-united
RW - Nicolas Gaitan
The god-king himself, the MVP of the Rumour Squad, the man whose transfer rumour turned into a meme, yes, it's none other than Nicolas Gaitan. One major reason why people on this sub roll their eyes at A Bola and Record comes from the neverending stream of Gaitan bullshit, which would flow invariably from Portuguese 'sources' and be washed down downstream to English 'sources' like The S*n and The Daily Fail. Like Garay and Sneijder, this rumour was pushed in at least three different eras of United, from Fergie to Moyes to LVG, with Gaitan's agent seemingly desperate to get him out of Benfica and to a club in Europe's top leagues. He eventually got his wish and left for Atletico Madrid in 2016, when wouldn't you know it, the rumours linking him to United magically stopped. Frankly, I think most fans would jump for joy if we did sign 2012 Gaitan, a tricky left-footed right winger with great control and a wicked cross. Instead, we got someone much better on the right, the famed Novalue Inthe Market, who I'm sure will excite us all this season.
Sample Transfer Rumour - https://www.eurosport.com/football/premier-league/2015-2016/manchester-united-transfer-news-nicolas-gaitan-drops-manchester-united-hint_sto4830163/story.shtml
CF - Antoine Griezmann
Antoine Griezmann never made his desire to leave Atletico Madrid subtle in 2017, telling the press he had a six in ten chance of joining Man United, talking up his discussions with Paul Pogba about the club, and having his brother be a hype man for the move that seemed bound to happen. Griezmann looked like the perfect signing - he was possibly the third best player in the world, a player who had both silk and steel, with no shortage of ability while also being tempered in the fires of Diego Simeone's ferocious Atletico side. Best of all? He was relatively affordable, with an 87 million pound release clause - a mere pittance for one of the richest clubs in the world to land a bona fide global superstar. The player wanted to go, United were interested, Atletico had no say in the matter ... so why did this never come to fruition? The answer was complicated. Atletico was under a yearlong transfer ban, and out of a sense of loyalty, Griezmann decided to stay with them for another year until they could adequately replace him. This rejection after such obvious flirtation seemed to turn us away for good, and the Alexis Sanchez transfer further left a sour taste about bringing in high class mercenaries who were not fully committed to playing for the club. Griezmann ended up moving to Barcelona in a move that has benefitted no one involved - the player has never looked the same and ended up being benched, Barcelona failed to get value out of their big money signing, and Atletico has failed to replace his obvious quality up front. Add to that the animosity of the transfer itself (Atletico announced it early just to prevent Griezmann from launching another hype video), and perhaps it was for the best that we stayed far away from this one.
Sample Transfer Rumour (the 'six out of ten' quote, given a week before he signed his new Atletico deal) - https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/may/23/antoine-griezmann-six-out-of-10-chance-move-atletico-madrid
LW - Cristiano Ronaldo
And last, but certainly not the least, we have the only player who has ever played in Manchester United colours. Not just that, but also one of the finest ever to rock up at Old Trafford, hell, one of the greatest players in the history of football. Still beloved in these parts for his starring role in one of Fergie's all time greatest teams, the rumour that Cristiano Ronaldo was on his way back 'home' started almost immediately after he left. After all, in contrast to the unconditional love he received around these parts, the Real Madrid fans were not shy about letting Ronaldo know when he failed to meet up to their sky-high standards, even greeting perceived lazy or selfish performances with boos. For all the adoration we gave him and the fondness he seems to have for the club, Ronaldo (with assistance from Jorge Mendes) has never been shy about using us as leverage to wrangle a new contract from Real or to simply remind them that he held all the cards and could leave any time. Furthermore, thanks to Ed Woodward's lust for galactico signings, it was never very difficult for Cristiano to string us along like a lovelorn teenager. It says something about how tiresome this rumour got that when he finally left Real, United were barely in the mix, with ridiculously quick statements in the press about how we were not interested. Turns out that Woodward can actually move at speed when it's to turn down a transfer instead of making one. Ronnie's now at Juventus, still trying to win another Champions League to solidify his case as being the best player of all time. We will probably never see him wearing our jersey again, barring the odd post-retirement charity game. Oh well. 'Tis better to have love and lost.
Sample Transfer Rumour (featuring Uncle Pat adding more fuel to the Ronaldo return fire) - https://www.football365.com/news/cristiano-ronaldo-man-utd-return-transfer-alex-ferguson-retired
So that's the team. The obvious missing piece is Bale, but I figured Griezmann was a better inclusion because of how shamelessly he flirted with us. I hope you enjoyed it, and let me know if there's anyone else I'm missing or if I was inaccurate with any details (had to dredge up a lot from memory and Google searches).

2020.09.23 17:43 jango-b A Completionist Guide to Yes Live: Part Four, Rite of Spring through The Royal Affair

The final entry in my collection of Yes live, a list of most songs from every tour, and the best quality recordings I could find of each. See part three here.
Yes toured a ton in this decade (over 450 shows plus ARW), some setlists are repetitive, and most tours that were not officially released are audience recordings.
YES TOURS PART FOUR: 2011 - 2019
RITE OF SPRING (2011) David, Squire, Howe, Downes, White
This tour was short (19 shows) and I could not find a single soundboard. I got the best audience recordings, but none are great.
Close to the Edge, I’ve Seen All Good People, Long Distance Runaround, Whitefish/On the Silent Wings of Freedom, Machine Messiah, Owner of a Lonely Heart, Parallels, Roundabout, Starship Trooper, Tempus Fugit, Yours is No Disgrace, and Steve solos of Soon, To Be Over, and Ritual; Zeiterion Performing Arts Center (March 29, 2011, New Bedford MA).
Steve plays a solo version of Turn of the Century at; The Fillmore Charlotte (March 25, 2011, Charlotte, NC).
FLY FROM HERE (11-12) David/Davison, Squire, Howe, Downes, White
This tour was NOT short, but still no soundboard recordings, just audience recordings of lesser quality.
With Benoit David: Tempus Fugit, Yours is No Disgrace, I’ve Seen All Good People, Fly From Here Part 1, And You And I, Owner of a Lonely Heart, Roundabout, Starship Trooper; One For The Ages (July 8, 2011, Mashantucket CT).
With Benoit David: Life On a Film Set, Solitaire, Fly From Here (complete), Wonderous Stories, Into the Storm, Heart of the Sunrise; Teatro Smeraldo (November 24, 2011, Milano Italy).
In that last show, you can already hear Benoit David’s voice starting to suffer. There are recordings of the shows after this which are worse. Yes replaced him with Jon Davison and continued this tour in April 2012.
With Jon Davison: Yours is No Disgrace, Tempus Fugit, I’ve Seen All Good People, America, Sketches in the Sun, Clap, Fly From Here, Wonderous Stories, Into the Storm, Heart of the Sunrise, Awaken, Roundabout; NYCB Theater at Westbury (July 14, 2012, Westbury CT).
THREE ALBUM TOUR (13-14) Davison, Squire, Howe, Downes, White
Every song on this tour was released officially:
All of Going For the One and The Yes Album are on Like It Is: Yes at the Bristol Hippodrome (May 11, 2014, Bristol UK).
Fragile and Close to the Edge, plus Owner of a Lonely Heart; Like It Is: Yes at the Mesa Arts Center (August 12, 2014, Mesa AZ).
HEAVEN & EARTH (2014) Davison, Squire, Howe, Downes, White
The H&E tour started immediately after the Three Album tour and the setlists were very similar. They just added a few songs from the new album.
No official release, but an official webcast:
All of Fragile and Close to the Edge, plus Believe Again, The Game, I’ve Seen all Good People, Owner of a Lonely Heart; Yahoo! Live Webcast (August 19, 2014, San Jose CA).
An audience recording of To Ascend; The Egg (July 6, 2014, Albany NY).
Chris’ last tour. Rest in peace, Fish.
TOUR WITH TOTO (2015) Davison, Sherwood, Howe, Downes, White
America, Don’t Kill the Whale, Going For The One, Starship Trooper, Tempus Fugit, Time And a Word, I’ve Seen All Good People, Siberian Khatru, Owner of a Lonely Heart and Roundabout*; Red Butte Garden Amphitheatre (August 31, 2015, Salt Lake City UT).*
Believe Again, White Car, Nine Voices, Clap, Soon; Cruise to the Edge – Norwegian Pearl (November 16, 2015).
THE ALBUM SERIES: FRAGILE & DRAMA (2016) Davison, Sherwood, Howe, Downes, Schellen
No official release. This tour only had 25 dates, and no soundboard recordings exist.
The best audience recording is Ancienne Belgique (May 14, 2016, Brussels Belgium). Set list is all of Drama and Fragile plus Time And a Word, Siberian Khatru, Going For the One, Owner of a Lonely Heart, and Starship Trooper.
Don’t Kill the Whale; Gran Teatro Geox (May 29, 2016, Padova Italy).

YES FEATURING ARW (16-18) Anderson, Pomeroy, Rabin, Wakeman, Molino
They played over a hundred shows over three years, although the set list did not vary dramatically. And Trevor knocked a few of Rick’s teeth out. Accidentally.
Official release: And You And I, Awaken, Changes, Cinema, Heart of the Sunrise, Hold On, I’ve Seen All Good People, Lift Me Up, Long Distance Runaround, The Fish, Owner of a Lonely Heart, Perpetual Change, Rhythm of Love, Roundabout; Yes Featuring ARW - Live at the Apollo (March 25, 2017, Manchester UK).

The Meeting; ARW Hard Rock Live (October 14, 2016, Orlando FL).
YESTIVAL (2017) Davison, Sherwood, Howe, Downes, White, Dylan Howe
This tour only had 23 dates before it was cancelled due to the tragic death of Virgil Howe. Only one show has a half-decent recording.

Clap; Uncasville (June 18, 2019, Mohegan Sun Arena, Uncasville CT)
Second Initial; Saratoga California (July 28, 2019, The Mountain Winery, Saratoga CA)
THE FUTURE
Yes planned to tour in 2020 but had to postpone due to the pandemic. A tour is tentatively planned for 2021, including the entire Relayer album. There is also the possibility of a new albums from either of two different bands that call themselves Yes.

Welcome to the second episode of the seventh season of this Western United in England series! Today we will cover the Premier League season up until the end of 2025.

First half of the season

Our August concluded with a fairly convincing win against Connolly's former Brighton, which helped us regain momentum going into September. And indeed, we went on a tear. It began by defeating Bournemouth 1-0, and then the following weekend demolishing Liverpool 4-1. We went on to win comfortably against Burton in the Carabao Cup, and concluded the month by winning 5-2 against rivals Watford.
Cook's breakthrough goal against Bournemouth
Another 5-2 win followed against Fulham to start off October. International friendlies then took place (to prepare for the World Cup this coming summer), where we would defeat the Netherlands and draw against Slovenia. Around this time, Horvat also accepted a contract extension with Australia to guarantee being their manager for what may perhaps be his most significant moment to date. League play soon continued, where we would continue our tear against Stoke City by embarrassing them 4-0. Defeating West Ham 2-1 the following weekend kept us in the driver's seat; however, we would lose to them just three days later to get eliminated from the Carabao Cup.
McCalmont, Cook, Pattison and Connolly celebrating victory against Stoke
Cook scoring the winner vs West Ham
After such a dominant month, the FA had nearly no choice but to choose a Western United forward for player of the month.

As it happened, Oliver Mottley-Henry won PL player of the month for October! This is the first time a Western United player has won such an award.

After our Carabao Cup loss, some momentum was brought back when we defeated Newcastle 2-0 to begin November. A 3-1 loss to Haaland's Arsenal followed, though, ending our over-two-month long winning streak in the league. Another international break then commenced, where Horvat would be utterly dismayed by the sheer ineptitude of his side, as Australia lost to (also Haaland's) Norway 5-0, and then Iceland 3-1. Horvat looked to gain retribution in the league, but returned to a 0-0 showing against bottom-table Sheffield. A pivotal 3-1 win against Spurs capped off the month though, which provided some hope for the rest of the calendar year.
Our December started off strong, with wins against Aston Villa and Leicester. However, we quickly fell behind by losing to Manchester United 2-0 at Old Trafford, Everton 3-1 at Wyndham, and Norwich 1-0 away. These games (especially the last one) were acute blows to our confidence as we transitioned into the last two games of 2025. Our next one--Liverpool--stood as a key game to determine whether or not we really mean serious business this season in terms of contending for Europe. This game proved to be a worthwhile endeavor for both teams, with Liverpool taking the lead early. However, a pivotal goal from Mottley-Henry late in the game tied it, and later in stoppage time, the ball was at his feet.

At the last possible moment, Harvey Thomas takes us home with the three points, yet again against Liverpool! Surely they are quite irritated by us by now.
Klopp in shambles
Sharing points against Bournemouth was our final act of 2025, which unfortunately left us in a very interesting position heading into the rest of our most imperative season yet.

Notable players so far

To no one's surprise, Connolly has re-acclimated himself very well to the Western United system. He currently ties for the lead in Premier League goals with 17, and ties for second place in assists with 10. And once again, Mottley-Henry has been integral to our success, and currently boasts 6 goals and 8 assists. Most likely to everyone's surprise, though, our other starting forward Sam Cook has scored more goals (7) than Mottley-Henry in the league so far; he also has 4 assists to his name. Horvat certainly knew what he was getting into by essentially doubling up our attacking prowess at the end of last season, and it has undoubtedly paid off.
As for our midfielders, Pattison, McCalmont, and Collins have all been quite solid. Our two natural CAMs--Alexander and Cox--have also shown great promise, indicating they should definitely be included in the squad more often in the future. Our defenders are also arguably having their best collective season yet, with McGinley, Morris, Hume, and Galloway (in his final year with us) all stepping up with success to assist Roberts in front of goal.

Transfer news

Initially, Horvat's plans for who to sign on a pre-contract were dependent on Galloway's eventual departure (i.e. a new right back was in order). However, the board all season has been insistent on Horvat signing a crucial forward. This sparks bewilderment, considering Connolly's recent arrival and our overall strongest point in the team being the front line. Alas, to keep the board content, Horvat searched for a forward. Not wanting to clutter the roster too much, he also decided against signing a new right back entirely, instead proposing a future formation change in a highly unorthodox move.
Horvat searched for a forward who could play on the wing and cover all areas of it, who looked for something greater in his career, and who brought a necessary perspective to the team. Surprisingly, the choice was easy.
Welcome, Pedro Alende Lopez!
Pedro Alende Lopez
After feeling distraught fighting for scraps at Huddersfield, Pedro has officially made history as Western United's first signing from a country other than the UK, Australia, or New Zealand. However, as he is being signed from a team within the UK (and considering the team's eagerness to compete on the continental stage), the board was not at all displeased, and neither were any other parties involved.
Starting next season, Horvat plans to implement Pedro into the squad at right midfielder as so:
https://preview.redd.it/2m8qg8vecro51.jpg?width=830&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=87c93749f2a6c90f3f324bef30928ce3598b1e5e
This is a modified 3-4-2-1, which can also be interpreted as a 4-4-2. Tradition indicates Western United should not waver from the 4-3-3, but necessity dictates change, Horvat argues. He believes this formation to be optimal in gleaning the best traits out of each individual player who has proven to most contribute to the team's overall success. Only time will tell how valuable this change will be for the club in the future.
In addition to signing Pedro, Horvat also looks to load off some older players who have nonetheless greatly contributed to the club over the years. Ferrier, Galloway, Melling, and Kitto will all say goodbye after this season, but not without respectable ceremony. Also, Okenabirhie has been transfer listed, as he never really got going for us in the top flight.

Youth academy progress

One player has been called up to the senior team.
Elliot Griffiths
Elliot Griffiths is currently very underwhelming, but hopefully various loan spells will help him grow as a decent defender.

Conclusion

That concludes this episode of this Western United in England series! The next episode will go over the rest of our third Premier League season as we seriously contend for European football.

2020.09.21 00:53 BigfootDogmanReports Is There a Serial Pusher in Manchester? Don't Walk in the Tunnel of Doom. Death at the Devil's Urinal. Part 1

Is There a Serial Pusher in Manchester? Don't Walk in the Tunnel of Doom. Death at the Devil's Urinal. Part 1
A Visit To the Devil’s Urinal. - The Manchester Murder Mystery
Is there a serial killer loose in Manchester, and if so how has he been allowed to kill constantly for years and remain hidden. Shockingly when checking figures only the men found deceased on the canal are counted in the ‘Pushers’ death toll. And they are only counted if they are found along a small stretch of the canal within the inner city. On the 11th of January, 2015, British tabloid The Daily Star made the connection after using the Freedom of Information Act to check the number of deaths along the canal system, the Star's report revealed that 61 bodies had been pulled from the waters of Manchester in the last six years.
The Manchester ship canal runs all the way to the coast, and has many tributaries, yet the cases on these stretches are neither counted or investigated. In 2020 Reynard Sinaga was convicted of a number of sexual assaults on young men he helped back to his flat where he would drug them, attack them and film the ordeal. His apartment was on the canal itself, yet he is not being linked to any of the Pusher cases. Several days after his arrest the Manchester evening news reported there is no Pusher, and there will be no enquiry into the death of the many missing males who go missing here every month. There are thought to be around 90 deaths attributed to the Manchester 'Pusher' in the last 15 yrs. No deaths before this date are counted, and no missing are included in this number. 90 is the number of recovered victims. 90 Males pulled from the waterway, yet the Greater Manchester Police, Manchester City Council and the Media will tell you there is no one responsible for these deaths. If the deaths were accidental, surely safety precautions put in place would have reduced the number greatly? If these cases are due to bad lighting or hazardous walkways, why has this not been rectified. The City has Millions of pounds spent within its centre every day. Yet CCTV footage is minimal and Police presence a rarity.
And why no mention of the female victims, so many of them go missing on the Canal, in one case all that was found was a lower limb, the case was closed and reported as having “no suspicious circumstances’? Other victims' whereabouts were lost when vital CCTV evidence was 'missing' or 'unavailable' yet Manchester city centre has thousands of CCTV cameras in operation. One man phoned his parents, who stayed on the phone with him, and contacted the police. For 1 1/2 hrs the 999 call operator stayed on the line and tried to help. Yet the next day the police said although the 999 system records all calls automatically, unfortunately for this one call out of the many thousand received that day there is no record? This gentlemans phone was found many days later next to the canal in an area already searched by the police.
Man’s body was found in Greater Manchester waterway, taking the total number of deaths in the region in seven years to 85 - 3/2/16. The body of a man has been pulled from a canal in Greater Manchester. An astonishing 85 bodies - mostly men - have been pulled from the region's waterways in the last seven years. The cause behind the majority of the deaths are believed to have been established as not suspicious, but 28 are still classified as 'unexplained', resulting in open verdicts. Emergency services and a specialist diving unit were called after a body was spotted in Portland Basin at around 8.30am today. The man is white and believed to be in his 40s or 50s. A GMP spokesman said it was too early to establish how the man died or whether there are any suspicious circumstances.
Some recent deaths have caused speculation that loved ones were the victims of a serial killer they dubbed The Pusher - a psychopath who murders his targets by bundling them into the icy waters. Some families believe their claim has considerable substance not only because of the disproportionately high numbers of people to have died in the rivers, but due to the suspicious circumstances surrounding the deaths of several men.

https://preview.redd.it/z3jsgr7isdo51.jpg?width=1418&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f1622671b30fc5a2d37ff457d30b6ef2d8f620fb
Man’s body found in water at Salford Quays 3/6/20 - Police are investigating after a man’s body was found in water at Salford Quays. Shortly before 1pm today the body of a man was discovered in the water near the Salford Watersports Centre. His body was recovered from the water by Greater Manchester Fire crews along with police.
A little like the Smiley faced killer in America the Pusher has a penchant for young men. Although as of yet no handy signature has been left at the scene. The men are often out in town, enjoying a meet up with mates, or spending their hard earned wages from the previous few days. The men, some of which are boys, are often separated from their friends for one reason or another. Many of them have phones and wallets intact when found. Which speaks of no robbery and the ability to get a cab home. So how do they vanish and appear in or next too Manchester's notorious water way?
One local resident called the Canal the ‘Devils Urinal’ due to the number of crimes committed along it's stretch and the many hundreds of people it has killed in the history of its existence. My Grt, Grt grand parents on my Mothers side left Ireland to build the canal in the 1890’s. Tinkers and Navvies they were called. Hard working men who were paid pennies to work in the deadly conditions. The canal which is really a River system made it easier for goods to be transported between Manchester and the docks at Liverpool. It made Manchester an inland port and changed the fortunes for many, good and bad. 130 men were killed during its construction. And many perished later due to the harsh working conditions. The canal was bombed over and over during the war, it shaped the city of my birth. Gone are the original communities like Hanky park and Langworthy. Over 200 years and the deaths continue, many of the cases closed regardless of circumstances. Many petitions have been presented from families asking for an inquiry into the deaths.
The next case we look at I feel should be high on the list of investigations to be re-opened.The glaring incompetence of the Police in this case was so bad it almost smacks of a cover up. It is at the very least gross negligence. Like most of the cases there was very little investigation done. People even today have the 'they were drunk' attitude when it comes to these cases. Or even worse, 'they put themselves in danger by being where they were'. Yet millions of people visit the city centre night clubs and bars everyday, restaurants, cafes and shops and make it home just fine. These cases are different. And when you see them all together you begin to realise there could be something to the rumours that a killer or several killers are at large in the Manchester area. Times that by every waterway, in every city and the figures become staggering.
Find out who Killed our Son!' Parents hear "Howls and Screams" in their son's final call? - Tragic David Plunkett’s chilling screams, heard by a 999 call handler, were not taped because the recorder was not working, claimed GMP Police. The officer who dealt with the “distressing” call was so appalled by the blunder she later resigned. The phone call from David, 21, who came from Halifax, W Yorks, was the last anyone heard from him before he was found dead in the Manchester Ship Canal three weeks later. He vanished after leaving a nightclub at Trafford Park near Manchester in April 2004. His reason for being ejected? he pushed into a queue for the gents toilets. This sadly changed the course of his life and left his family and friends devastated.
At his inquest we heard that his anguished parents rang him to check if he was OK after hearing he had lost his pals. He started to scream and howl. They dialled 999 on another phone and held the two handsets together so the police operator could hear his distress. It was the last time they spoke to their son. The pair called their son's phone the night he died, only to hear terrified screams. Anne said: 'The screaming and howling was so unearthly that you just felt it had to be something.'
This message was Issued from a former GMP officer who handled the call. The woman, who we are not naming, said: “I took a very distressing 999 call.” She said David had been “in a distressed state” during the call with his parents “but they could not hear anything other than their son screaming”. She added: “I dealt with them for well over an hour, trying to sort out assistance for them and him. "The incident still haunts me to this date and with every death I see reported in the news I become more and more convinced that these are murders and not accidents.”
A pathologist said the likely cause of death was drowning and the inquest ruled it was accidental. But David’s mum Anne, 66, disagrees. And she hit out at the police probe into her son’s death. The retired head teacher said: “Someone is responsible for David’s death. The police investigation was unacceptable. "It was a case of ‘young man, too much to drink, falls into the canal, end of story’. "But so many important factors were ignored and there were versions of events that simply did not add up.”
David Plunkett had been at a concert at the Daytona Racetrack, also in Trafford Park, before he went missing in April 2004. Recalling the last time she spoke to her son, Anne said: “I could barely make out what he was saying. "He started screaming and howling. "It was extremely distressing. "I thought he was being attacked. “We rang the police and put the phone to them but it soon went dead. "It later turned out the call wasn’t recorded because the tape recorder wasn’t working. "It really does beggar belief.” Anne said her brother found David’s phone upstream from the body – despite an earlier police search. She added: “The whole case leaves more questions than answers. "He could have been attacked, he could have had his drink spiked. "Anything could have happened.”

https://preview.redd.it/yknqnn8lsdo51.jpg?width=203&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c4733eb8f3666a0928c0bebdfc784299ae5e3bc3
"In the early hours of the morning, the phone went and it was David's friend Michael," his mother, Anne, stated. "He said he'd lost David and was trying to get in touch with him. He said he and David had lost each other in the club, and I just said to close the phone and I'd try to call David. It took about three attempts before David answered, but he didn't speak. The first thing that struck me was the quietness of where David was. It was virtually silent. All I could hear was the sound of him walking, that was evident from his breathing, and I said, 'Do you know where you are? Are you in Manchester? Do you recognise anything?' – but I got no response from him. And then, about seven or eight minutes into the call, there was suddenly this ghastly screaming. I started crying, handed the phone to my husband, Mike, and I made a 999 call"
"The screaming I heard," continues Mike, "made me feel like David had seen something that had terrified him." Then at 4:30 AM," says Anne, "the phone just went dead."
It took the police two weeks to find his body in the canal. They claimed to have searched the area and nothing was found. His uncle found his phone not too far from where his body was recovered after the supposed police search. What happened to David that night. The area of the nightclub is well lit, there are taxis outside and lots of numbers advertised in the foyer. walking towards the lights makes far more sense than wandering out of the bustle and towards the canal. Why did David not contact his friend? Were there any missed calls or texts between them? Why did the police not track David's phone and his movements that night. There is CCTV coverage in the area. Even though it was late people would have been around. It's a popular area even at night. Was anything missing from David when he was finally recovered. Were there any signs of injury? Sadly the case is now closed and there will be no further investigations or enquiries made.
A Man was Hurled into a Canal at night - Rumours of a possible serial attacker have been revived after a 34-year-old office worker was thrown into the city’s Bridgewater canal then kicked back in as he tried to save himself from drowning. The victim, who said he almost drowned after his legs became tangled in his bicycle while he was below the surface of the canal, said he had asked police about the “Manchester pusher” legend and that “they were well aware of the stories”. “I definitely feel like I’m lucky to be alive. I could easily have drowned because of what he did,” The Pusher was described as a white male aged between 20-40, he is of average height and was wearing a black jacket.
Tom says he is "disappointed" with the police response and said the canals were the perfect place for crime. "It's pitch black down there," he said. "There's no lights. You look up, someone catches your eye and then in four seconds you're in dirty water."
Tom is right, it takes a split second to push someone into the murky waters of the canal. There are areas below the bridges and walkways where you do not walk at night or in the day for fear of your safety. Many drugs deals, robberies and hate crimes take place in these hidden spots. Out of the way from busy shoppers and party goers. Once you leave the bright lights of central Manchester you are confronted with an almost Victorian street mentality. Pickpockets, homeless folk and thieves are around every corner. Add to this the lack of officers to attend incidents and you have a perfect melting pot for committing crime and getting away with it. If you want to steal someone’s phone, money, sense of security or life, do it in the back streets of Manchester and you won't have to pay a price.
8/6/18 Orlando Nyero was celebrating his 19th birthday in Manchester. Three days later his body was pulled from the Canal, which runs through the heart of the city. But he was not the first man to be found in that very spot, another victim had already died after a night out, and his body was discovered only 3 months earlier. Orlando was found in the same waterway as student Charlie Pope, also 19. Orlando and Charlie are among 90 people who have been recovered dead from Greater Manchester’s canals since 2007. There are many more who are reported missing never to be found.
Nick Pope spoke about his son Charlie and his mysterious death ""Look around here, it's just a bloody death trap," he says, as people drink outside at tables a few metres from the water's edge" The lighting is bad and there is no CCTV. Nobody knows what happened to Charlie that night. Three months later Orlando was found in almost the same spot. 19-year-old, Orlando Nyero, drowned a few hundred metres further down the same stretch of water. Orlando's brother, Sam Abui, was with him that night and said they had been celebrating a birthday in the city. "The police said it was an accident. It was a tragic accident," he said.
Manchester City Centre is a hot spot for tourists and party goers alike, there is also a huge student population close to the centre as Manchester has a number of colleges, universities and teaching hospitals. Thousands of people visit the city each day and the evenings are no exception. Yet step two streets away from the bright lights and you will find yourself in the city's seedy underbelly. The central gardens in Piccadilly are a very good example of this. Many years ago the gardens were a lovely place to be. I would often sit there and eat my lunch each day, as I worked in the city centre, but at night it was a place to be avoided. Drug pushers and drunks abound, and one street away you have the heart of the city's red light district. Now sadly you have to avoid the back streets and the gardens even in the daytime, the police are short handed and understaffed. There is no help out there on the streets other than your own. People are killed, raped and attacked on an almost daily basis.
Yet the City Council, the local newspaper and media will deny there is a problem, numerous times it has been stated there is not a problem in Manchester when it comes to crime. The men and women pulled from the canal are in there by choice, or due to bad judgement of their own. The powers that be refuse to admit there is a problem with 'date rape' drugs, yet hundreds of cases are handled by Greater Manchester police each year. In the past year alone two men have been arrested and jailed for this very crime.
Police have charged a man over the death of popular Northern Quarter chef Hiran Chauhan whose body was found wrapped in plastic in woodland close to Buile Hill Park in Salford shortly before 8.10am on Tuesday 9 July 2019. Police descended on a small patch of woodland close to Buile Hill Park at around 8:10 am 9/7/20 after they were alerted to a body having been found by school children which appeared to be wrapped in plastic. The children were heading to school for morning lessons at the nearby Buile Hill Academy when the grisly discovery was made.

Hiran had last been seen making his way home from work in Manchester on the 2nd of July, he later was seen exiting a tram at Langworthy at around 11:31pm but tragically he never made it to his room in a rented house he shared with others. Neil Cuckson (16/10/1987) of Eccles Old Road in Salford has been charged with Administering a Noxious Substance, Supplying class A and class C controlled drugs, Perverting the Course of Justice and Preventing Lawful Burial and will appear at Manchester Crown Court, Crown Square on Thursday December 19 2019.
Reynhard Sinaga: 'Evil sexual predator' jailed for life for 159 attacks - Reynhard Sinaga was found guilty of luring 48 men from outside Manchester clubs to his flat, where he drugged and assaulted them - filming the attacks. Police say they have evidence Sinaga, 36, who is being named for the first time, targeted at least 190 victims. The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said Sinaga was "the most prolific rapist in British legal history". The judge ruled his life sentence must include a minimum of 30 years in jail. The postgraduate student was already serving life, with a minimum term of 20 years, for the offences he was convicted of in two earlier trials, which took place in summer 2018 and last spring.
Detectives say they have been unable to identify a further 70 victims and are now appealing for anyone who believes they may have been abused by Sinaga to come forward. At the hearing, Judge Suzanne Goddard QC said Sinaga was "an evil serial predator who has preyed upon young men" who wanted "nothing more than a good night out with their friends". "In my judgment you are a highly dangerous, cunning and deceitful individual who will never be safe to be released," she said - adding that the decision to release prisoners is made by the Parole Board.

Sinaga would wait for men leaving nightclubs and bars before leading them to his flat in Montana House, Princess Street, often with the offer of somewhere to have a drink or call a taxi. He drugged his victims before assaulting them while they were unconscious. When the victims woke up many of them had no memory of what had happened. The student, who denied the charges, had claimed all the activity was consensual and that each man had agreed to being filmed while pretending to be asleep - a defence described by the judge as "ludicrous".
At an earlier sentencing, the judge said she was sure that Sinaga had used a form of date rape drug such as GHB. The rapist was caught in June 2017 when one victim, who regained consciousness while being assaulted, fought Sinaga off and called the police. Assistant Chief Constable Mabbs Hussain said the true extent of Sinaga's offending would probably never be known. "We suspect he's offended over a period of 10 years," he said. "The information and evidence we are going from is largely from trophies that he's collected from the victims of his crimes." Investigators traced dozens of victims from the videos using clues found in Sinaga's Manchester flat, such as stolen phones, ID cards and watches.
The flat mentioned in the article was situated ideally for Sinaga, in fact it was on canal street itself, his balcony overlooked the canal. Was he responsible for any of the mystery deaths, it would be easy to quietly push somebody from your first floor level into the canal below. Or to slip out of the building with a rug or suitcase in the dead of night and rid yourself of a problem. Yet the police state there is no connection between Sinaga and any of the 'Pushers' suspected victims. It would have been very easy for him to pick up lone males and offer his help. Come back to mine, phone a taxi and we can have a drink while you wait, was probably said a hundred times by Sinaga. How many other Sinaga’s are out there, unknown? How many have there been before him, predatory males, who use Manchester centre as their dumping ground?
I grew up in Manchester in the 70’s and 80’s. I was a young lass when the Yorkshire ripper cases started to be reported. I remember another level of fear each time a new body was recovered. I remember curfews for women and men questioned by police because they had a Northern accent or drove for a living. I remember the tape of Wearside Jack being played in school assemblies and on the TV at home. I remember our neighbour being murdered around that time, she was coming home from the pub. She was so badly disfigured and abused by her murderer the police counted her as a Ripper victim until her killer was caught. And I remember the snide remarks of “well she put herself in that position” “if she had been home seeing to her husband this would not have happened” I was so shocked by these comments they still sit with me. And yet 40 yrs on it's still a popular public opinion.
I highly doubt the lady in question set out that night intending to be cruelly killed, disemboweled and left for dead on scrap land within feet of her own front door. Back then the ladies would work all week and on a saturday, with their best frock on and hair newly set and ready they would go to bingo or down to the local pub or club, for a few port and lemons and a natter with their friends. Pubs shut at 10.30pm then. Back home with a chippy supper and hopes of a lie in tomorrow morning were probably the last actions and thoughts she had. She was somebody's Mum, sister, daughter and wife, an aunt and a niece and probably someone's best friend. And because she joined her friends from the mill or factory for a drink she deserved what came her way. That's shocking, but what shocks me more is 40 years later we utter the same words. “If he was at home this wouldn't have happened” “why put yourself in that position” has been said about every one of the missing males found in the Canal. And they are someone’s son, father, brother, uncle and nephew, they had mates they went to the gym with, or played footy with as kids. Ordinary working class lads letting their hair down and having a good time, before it's back to work on Monday morning. We all did this and still do, in towns and cities across the UK. Getting spruced up and meeting your mates after working all week was the norm. I remember hundreds of times I rushed back home on payday to get ready to go out when I was young, free and single. I have attended 18th’s, 21st’s, Hen do’s, Birthdays in the pubs and clubs. And made it home safe and sound each time. I am one of the lucky ones. see part 2

2020.09.18 15:04 4verticals Final title changes in WWE to happen in front of a crowd

I was thinking about how much wrestling has changed this year and it got me to thinking about the last title changes to happen with fans present to witness them. I decided to create a reference guide because I'm nerdy about obscure stats like this and their related info. The last WWE show to happen in front of a crowd was Raw on March 9th. The champions on that date, and the title change that occurred when they won the title, were:
WWE Championship: Brock Lesnar over Kofi Kingston, Smackdown, October 4th 2019. Brock dropped the title to Drew McIntyre at Mania, and the title has remained around Drew's waist ever since.
Universal Championship: Goldberg over "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt, Super Showdown, Saudi Arabia, February 27th 2020. Interestingly, the last Universal Title change before this also happened in Saudi Arabia, when Wyatt beat Seth Rollins on Halloween of 2019 at Crown Jewel. The last Universal Title change to happen in front of a Western crowd was when Rollins beat Brock Lesnar at Summerslam on August 11th 2019. Since beating Wyatt in Saudi, Goldberg dropped the title to Braun Strowman at Mania, and the title currently sits around the waist of Roman Reigns.
Raw Women's Championship: Becky Lynch over Ronda Rousey, WrestleMania 35, April 8th 2019. This match was a triple threat match that also involved Charlotte and was also for her Smackdown Women's Championship. Since dethroning Ronda here, Becky held the title for over a year until she needed to take time off due to pregnancy, wherein the title was contested in the MITB match on May 10th 2020, which was won by Asuka.
Smackdown Women's Championship: Bayley over Charlotte, Smackdown, October 11th 2019. Amazingly, Bayley is still champion.
Intercontinental Championship: Sami Zayn over Braun Strowman, Elimination Chamber, March 8th 2020. Sami literally squeaked in here, winning the title from Braun on the penultimate show in front of crowds. This match was a 3-on-1 handicap match in which Zayn was partnered by his Artist Collective teammates, Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura. Zayn's reign lasted 65 days before he vacated the title due to being unable to appear on the show during the pandemic. The title is currently held by Jeff Hardy, but Zayn is back on TV and is claiming to be the rightful champion.
United States Champion: Andrade over Rey Mysterio, house show, Boxing Day 2019. The last title change to probably ever happen at a house show, as WWE has expressed interest in moving away from them even after a return to live crowds. The last televised US Title change was when Rey beat AJ Styles on Raw a month prior to his defeat to Andrade. The title currently is held by Bobby Lashley.
Raw Tag Team Championships: Street Profits over Seth Rollins and Murphy, Raw, March 2nd 2020. The Profits also squeaked in here, beating Rollins and Murphy a week prior to the final show in front of crowds. Like Bayley, Dawkins and Ford are yet to drop their titles.
Smackdown Tag Team Championships: Miz and John Morrison over New Day, Super Showdown, Saudi Arabia, February 27th 2020. The last Smackdown tag title change to happen in front of a Western crowd was when New Day beat the Revival (remember them? :P) in Manchester, England on an episode of Smackdown in November 2019. The last change to happen in front of a North American crowd was when Revival beat New Day at Clash of Champions 2019 in their home state of North Carolina. The titles are currently held by Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura.
Women's Tag Team Championships: Asuka and Kairi Sane over Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross, Hell In A Cell, October 6th 2019. Asuka and Kairi would drop the titles back to Alexa and Nikki at Mania. The titles are currently held by Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax.
24/7 Championship: Riddick Moss over Mojo Rawley, Raw, February 10th 2020. Moss dropped the belt to R-Truth two months later when he was out jogging. Yes, this is a championship contested in professional wrestling matches. The title is currently held by R-Truth, who is in his... 39th reign.
NXT Championship: Adam Cole over Johnny Gargano, TakeOver: XXV, June 1st 2019. Cole's reign would end up being the longest in the history of the title, before he dropped the belt to Keith Lee, in a match that was also for Lee's North American Championship, on Night 2 of the 2020 Great American Bash in July. The title is currently held by Finn Balor.
NXT Women's Championship: Rhea Ripley over Shayna Baszler, NXT TV, December 18th 2019. Rhea would be given a Mania program with Charlotte, who ended her reign. The title is currently held by Io Shirai, who beat Charlotte in a triple threat match also involving Rhea.
NXT North American Championship: Keith Lee over Roderick Strong, NXT TV, January 22nd 2020. Lee would vacate the title after defeating Adam Cole and also becoming NXT Champion. The North American Championship is currently held by Damian Priest.
NXT Tag Team Championships: Matt Riddle and Pete Dunne over Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly, TakeOver: Portland, February 16th 2020. Interestingly, Dunne would become isolated in the UK during the pandemic and his half of the championships was then defended on his behalf by Timothy Thatcher. Riddle and Thatcher dropped the titles to Imperium on the May 13th episode of NXT. They then ended up having a match in the "Fight Pit". The titles are currently held by Breezango.
Here's to hearing the crowd pop again for a title change sometime in the not too distant future. Hope you enjoyed reading.

2020.09.17 13:59 Fentanyl_Butt_Plug When Will PIA bother to update online instructions so that Customers can connect to PIA Via Router, so that the Much Aunted Next Gen VPN will work? (Shoddy Practice)

What a Pity that the settings provided no longer work with routers such as the Asus AC68U running the latest merlin rom.
Worked perfectly until PIA started playing about with UK services and the Much Vaunted Next Gen VPN wiped Manchester, Southampton and London from the Global Map. Manchester and London have reapeared and can be used if utalising PIA proprietaory Gadgets from Redmond, Linux and Android.
Using the supplied files and 2-year-old published instructions do not work. The web page and the Syup[plied p[roduct are NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE.
The advice on the PIA website is 2 years out of date and for a merlin rom that is even older.
PIA online support seem to rely upon google to give you none utile advise.
Looks like I'm going to me migrating to another provider that puts technical excellence and utile product over turning a Quick-Buck and having chat "houselves" giving you links to two year old defunct advice and even telling you to seek advise from other PIA customers.
In Europe there are implied terms and conditions under a contract that derive from the PIA website telling you how to get a router working with Merlin - and if PIA are too lazy or disinterested to keep published customer advice up to date that is berach of contracts as well as Ultra Shoddy business practice and customer service.
Does anyone (PIA employee, Competitor, "Man on the Clapham omnibus") have the relevant instructions and required paramaters for the merlin Rom so that the much vaunted and troubelsome Nex Gen VPN will get anywhere near a valid descriptioon under The Sale Of Goods Act 1979 concerning "Quality and Fitness" and actually WORK!
Mulvad looks expensive but a good option.

2020.09.16 00:07 TwilightGarden1 28 [M4F] #Manchester UK - Virgin Looking to go on dates and gain experience

I've lived quite a large amount of my life behind a computer screen, investing months - if not years -into online relationships that never panned out...6 weeks here, 6 months there and suddenly I'm 28 years old and still a virgin. Pardon the pun, but this sucks =P
So, what am I looking for? Whilst a blowjob would be great, I'd actually appreciate any experience - a date, a kiss or perhaps something a bit more errr....naked.
I'm based in the UK/Northern England, but I have no issues with travelling or getting an Airbnb etc. I'm fairly slim, not entirely hideous and decently sized. The real kicker that might just sway your mind is that I do in fact know how to bathe myself...I'm a real-life James Bond, right?
So, if you're experienced and want to make a guy remember you for the rest of their life? I'm your dude!
Do you have zero experience at all and want to learn, even if that 'only' involves cuddling or kissing? Also your dude!
As stated above, there's no pressure or expectations, meeting someone in and of itself would be great =)

2020.09.14 15:45 DandaDan Manchester Open 2020: Discussion thread

UPDATE Tuesday, Sep 15th:
Please note that the draws are changing rapidly with more and more players dropping out and draws being re-drawn. Many comments here were made on Monday when the draw was completely different.
Players who I believe have dropped out:
Miguel Rodriguez, Diego Elias, Gregory Gaultier, Darly Selby (replaced by: Nathan Lake, Benjamin Aubert, Richie Fallows, George Parker)
Women: no drop-outs so far (I think)
Good source: twitter.com/PSAWorldTour
Edit 2: Manchester Open website, most up to date draws: https://manchesteropensquash.com/results
Women's draw
Men's draw
Live streaming: Eurosport Player (Europe) & PSA Squash TV (rest of world), subscriptions required. Also: PSA Facebook page & YouTube (side court)
Squashsite coverage
Preamble:
Ladies and gentlemen,
PSA Squash is back! Finally. It's been six months, or 187 days to be precise, since we saw MES beat Ali Farag in a 3:2 win. It was a great match worthy of a big finale, though who you knew it'd be the last live Squash match we'd see for half a year? Both players are back in action in Manchester, seeded one and two, and you know MES will be ready to go since he is missing follow-up tournaments in Egypt. Not having seen player for six months means predictions are pointless, so I won't offer mine. However, following an extremely solid tournament win in Prague, Gaultier looks to be back in contention. Not many players can restrict Kandra to less then six points per game. He's likely to play Elias in round two, the winner playing MES in the quarters. Dessouky played some incredible Squash at Canary Wharf and he certainly has the confidence to take on Superman Coll in round two.
First round matches to look out for:
Momen vs Al Tamimi - arguably the two fastest players on tour, with Al Tamimi almost beating Momen in their previous encounter.
Castagnet v Rösner - following some dental work, Castagnet found some form in March and looked close to his best again.
Selby vs Marwan - fan favourite Selby against villainous Marwan. This might be Selby's last season, I'm sure he is looking for that upset.
For the ladies the wait has been even longer, they played their last tournament in February 2020 in Kairo and there has not been a warm-up event. There's been huge news though: world number one Raneem El Welily announced her retirement. Raneem, often compared to Shabana in the way she approached Squash, will be missed, but what a great way to finish a career: as world number one!
While Nouran Gohar is the new world number one, her and El Sherbini are missing in Manchester. Thus opening up the draw for the Egyptian number three, Nour El Tayeb, seeded two. However, it was young Egyptian Hania El Hammamy who won that last tournament in February and showed the world that it's the Egyptian number four who might be the one to watch this season. Though Serme, Perry, Sobhy and King will be eager to stop the Egyptian domination, especially on European soil.
First round matches to look out for:
Camille Serme v Sabrina Sobhy - I'm a big fan of Sohby, particularly after she relocated to Egypt for her training base. This might be her year.
Alves v Hany - it's not all Camille Serme in France: Alves is an exciting French player capable of beating higher-ranked players.
Lastly, shout-out to Campbell Grayson and Leo Au who both retired recently. Fingers crossed that the tournament runs safely and soundly. As far as I can tell, Greater Manchester Corona levels are high and I'm just hoping that we don't have similar drama like with the Tennis US Open.
Enjoy the Squash & discussion!

2020.09.11 00:24 TheRazorX ...in which civilian oversight is now a bad thing "Cause Trump"

I rarely post essays.
As someone who's lived in other parts of the world, I've been watching events unfold with a severe dread that surpasses Trump's worst desires (or projected desires).
The thing I fear, is not Trump "winning, it's not Biden "Winning", it's not even directly related to the election itself, rather it's summarized in Friedrich Nietzsche's famous quote;
He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And if you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss also gazes into you.
This quote while widespread is often ignored or dismissed as a side point, however I've long since come to the conclusion that the intense polarization is intended as a feature not a bug, and Trump is just merely a tool in the plan that has been underway for decades.
We've reached the point where BOTH Republicans AND Democrats (speaking of actual regular voters, not politicians or bots, or those minorities on either side that were already "extremists");
Myself and thousands of others that have traveled or lived in "less free" parts of the world have constantly warned of the similarities of the "But Trump" Boogeyman strategy, and of the dangers of this strategy coming to fruition, people from those regions have spoken the warnings clearly in English and of course we're ridiculed attacked and most importantly ignored.. Because "it can't happen here". Furthermore, the truth is, we've seen many "Trumps" before in recent times.
Anyone that has ever looked at any "Authoritarian" country, recognizes a very simple fact; People enable and allow said tyranny. Consent of the Governed is in fact given to both Democratic leaders and Authoritarian leaders.
In each and every one of these countries, no matter how despicable their leaders, they always manage to find support out of a fear of one or many "Boogeymen". In MENA, the holy trinity of Boogeymen is; The USA, Israel, The Muslim Brotherhood. And depending on which part of MENA, either Iran/Saudi.
Anything and everything wrong with the country, is the fault of one of those Boogeymen, and as a result quite a few people will hate their leaders openly, know they're corrupt thieves, murderers, pedophiles...etc but still back them because at least they're "protecting us from X". They'll be outraged at whatever crime the regime commits against the people, but willingly eat up the pro-regime propaganda because "They were trouble makers that deserved it" or "They were agents of Israel/USA" or "This is a plot by Israel/USA/Iran/Saudi"..etc. The list goes on and on and on. So much so that a common "twisting" of Karl Marx's adage on religion is "Israel is the Opiate of the Arabs", a concept naturally twisted by pro-Israel parties to deflect away from Israel's actual crimes, using typical "Whataboutism"
Sound familiar?
There's no doubt those "Boogeymen" are scary and regularly commit crimes. But the fact that someone commits crimes, has never ever meant that others have not themselves committed crimes. But they want you to think that, or even worse, they want the crimes of said Boogeymen to excuse the crimes of those in their own tribes.
There's a very real reason the astroturfing efforts are focused on "So you want Trump to win?" and "So you're voting for Trump?" type messages when trying to "convince" voters to back Biden that are skeptical. So much so, they haven't even bothered to pretend otherwise. They want binary.
There's a very very VERY good reason that Bernie said we need a global progressive front, and that Yanis Varoufakis agreed., What we're seeing happen in the USA, we saw before in multiple countries. They understand that with corporate authoritarian power going multinational and coordinating on an international basis, we need an international front to fight it, and not just focus on "local" stuff, because as I'm trying to point out, you end up seeing the same tactics happen elsewhere because even those that bother to pay cursory attention think or say "it can't happen here", or more importantly, even if they do understand the possibility of it "happening here" only see it in the light of tribalism, where only "The other" is willing or capable to bring it to fruition.
We're now at the point where civilian oversight of an election is considered a "bad thing" by "Liberals", "cause Drumpf", this isn't the first (or even last) time I've heard something similar. For example, it's anecdotal, but a friend reported once that during a conversation, a very liberal and otherwise "normal" but very "Dem" co-worker mentioned that she found it "extremely creepy" that a Bernie supporter was video taping her counting votes at a precinct in 2016 when she was a volunteer poll worker. She obviously wasn't a Bernie fan.

That is the bigger threat, that is the bigger "goal" that you can easily trace going back to 1971 or even 1933. This is the culmination of everything, including Trump and the Pied Piper strategy (A strategy they continue to repeat even though we've already seen and felt the real results of it on actual people, specifically the most disadvantaged); To effectively and gradually "guide" the populace into accepting tyranny and fascism, either out of exploiting their fears, or out of giving them a sense of self righteousness in which suppressing "the other" is for a "righteous cause" or "the greater good". They've slowly convinced a large group of people across political ideologies that "Stability is more important than Freedom", Something we've seen said before by Trump's "Favorite Dictator", causing a perception shift here in the USA that we're seeing happen in real time., largely mirroring the sentiment in "non-free" countries

You're either with us, or against us is now the rallying cry across the board.. one we've heard before even here in the USA, a message that when last we heard it, it was used to justify one of the worst crimes of the modern era
The intense polarization of America along acceptance of authoritarian tolerance is a feature, not a bug. To quote the pinned tweet of one of the aforementioned accounts;
“The junk merchant doesn't sell his product to the consumer, he sells the consumer to his product. He does not improve and simplify his merchandise. He degrades and simplifies the client.”
~William S. Burroughs, Naked Lunch
Multiple studies from reputable sources have sounded the alarm that faith in democracy is fading fast, but once again, no one is listening, even when "Liberal" favorites talk about it.
To give you an example of what I mean, folks wanting the government to "verify" news (to combat fake news), completely forget (or intentionally omit) the fact that the very same laws they're recommending have already been implemented in multiple countries and only benefit the ruling regime, who use them as just another tool to silence dissident. Furthermore, there are other methods of combating disinformation that don't erode civil liberties., but we rarely hear about them in public discourse, the choice we're always given is "Give up this right, or suffer the consequences".
And a crucial but (intentionally?) overlooked fact on the free-speech debate, starts cutting through all the fog;
“Constitutional protection should be accorded only to speech that is explicitly political,” he wrote. “There is no basis for judicial intervention to protect any other form of expression, be it scientific, literary or that variety of expression we call obscene or pornographic.”
But a transformative ruling by the Supreme Court five years later began to change that thinking. The case, a challenge to a state law that banned advertising the prices of prescription drugs, was filed by Public Citizen, a consumer rights group founded by Ralph Nader. The group argued that the law hurt consumers, and helped persuade the court, in Virginia State Board of Pharmacy v. Virginia Citizens Consumer Council, to protect advertising and other commercial speech.
The only dissent in the decision came from Justice William H. Rehnquist, the court’s most conservative member.
Kathleen M. Sullivan, a former dean of Stanford Law School, wrote that it did not take long for corporations to see the opportunities presented by the decision.
“While the case was litigated by consumer protection advocates,” she wrote in the Harvard Law Review, “corporate speakers soon became the principal beneficiaries of subsequent rulings that, for example, struck down restrictions on including alcohol content on beer can labels, limitations on outdoor tobacco advertising near schools and rules governing how compounded drugs may be advertised.”
That trend has continued, with businesses mounting First Amendment challenges to gun control laws, securities regulations, country-of-origin labels, graphic cigarette warnings and limits on off-label drug marketing.
“I was a bit queasy about it because I had the sense that we were unleashing something, but nowhere near what happened,” Mr. Nader said. “It was one of the biggest boomerangs in judicial cases ever.”
“I couldn’t be Merlin,” he added. “We never thought the judiciary would be as conservative or corporate. This was an expansion that was not preordained by doctrine. It was preordained by the political philosophies of judges.”
Not all of the liberal scholars and lawyers who helped create modern First Amendment law are disappointed. Martin Redish, a law professor at Northwestern University, who wrote a seminal 1971 article proposing First Amendment protection for commercial speech, said he was pleased with the Roberts court’s decisions.
“Its most important contributions are in the commercial speech and corporate speech areas,” he said. “It’s a workmanlike, common sense approach.”
Liberals also played a key role in creating modern campaign finance law in Buckley v. Valeo, the 1976 decision that struck down limits on political spending by individuals and was the basis for Citizens United, the 2010 decision that did away with similar limits for corporations and unions.
One plaintiff was Senator Eugene J. McCarthy, Democrat of Minnesota, who had challenged President Lyndon B. Johnson in the 1968 presidential primaries — from the left. Another was the American Civil Liberties Union’s New York affiliate.
Professor Neuborne, a former A.C.L.U. lawyer, said he now regrets the role he played in winning the case. “I signed the brief in Buckley,” he said. “I’m going to spend long amounts of time in purgatory.”
To Professor Seidman, cases like these were part of what he describes as a right-wing takeover of the First Amendment since the liberal victories in the years Chief Justice Earl Warren led the Supreme Court.
“With the receding of Warren court liberalism, free-speech law took a sharp right turn,” Professor Seidman wrote in a new article to be published in the Columbia Law Review. “Instead of providing a shield for the powerless, the First Amendment became a sword used by people at the apex of the American hierarchy of power. Among its victims: proponents of campaign finance reform, opponents of cigarette addiction, the L.B.G.T.Q. community, labor unions, animal rights advocates, environmentalists, targets of hate speech and abortion providers.
Yet, almost all the discourse in free speech debates/"Cancel culture" is focused on anything EXCEPT the corporate aspect, and naturally ignores the only groups actually and truly at a disadvantage.. Joy Ann Reid's was never "cancelled" for her Islamophobia, bigotry, racism, antisemitism...etc , but was rather rewarded with a prime time show, and many of the same "liberals" applaud her regularly.
And obviously on the Right, none of them are "Cancelled" for any obvious transgressions.
It starts getting clearer when you realize what types of people are "agreeing" with each other on the subject, and who certain folks decided to target
All that paints a very clear picture; Only your rights should be revoked. "We" should be given a pass.
Side note; I also find it interesting how many twisted abuses can be traced back to the corporate response to Nader's (at the time) very effective citizen activism.. That was the pivotal moment. Which makes it all the easier to see how they so effectively managed to turn him into a pariah.
On a related note, Information warfare has been predicted to be the new major war front at least as far back as 1996, so this isn't something they just started thinking about in 2016, contrary to popular perception. Hell, an extremely popular anime talked of it in the early 2000s, and fictionally exhibited things we see in reality today.
Even Bin Laden, the infamous terrorist, understood the ramifications, and considered it a primary tenant of his "Death by a thousand cuts" strategy, although he was primary focused on inflicting economic harm.
And "we" walked right into it willingly. Why? Well perhaps this next quote will shed some light;
Richard Shultz, a professor of international politics at Tufts who’s long been a key national security state intellectual, wrote in 2004 that “A very senior [Special Operations Forces] officer who had served on the Joint Staff in the 1990s told me that more than once he heard terrorist strikes characterized as ‘a small price to pay for being a superpower.’
Again, the missed subtext is clear; Human lives lost in terrorism attacks (and increased radicalization due to US actions leading to more potential terrorist attacks) are a cheap price for global (and more importantly economic) dominance. By extension, one can assume that human lives lost to other corporate goals are also considered a "cheap cost".

This is NOT ok.

Speaking of radicalization and Al-Qaeda....
What did the founding fathers (that conservatives love to reference) think of stuff like this?
Abraham Lincoln warned in February 15, 1848, of the dangers of "Only I see and understand the danger, only I can protect you" type politics.
Allow the President to invade a neighboring nation whenever he shall deem it necessary to repel an invasion, and you allow him to do so whenever he may choose to say he deems it necessary for such purpose, and you allow him to make war at pleasure. Study to see if you can fix any limit to his power in this respect, after having given him so much as you propose. If to-day he should choose to say he thinks it necessary to invade Canada to prevent the British from invading us, how could you stop him? You may say to him,—”I see no probability of the British invading us”; but he will say to you, “Be silent: I see it, if you don’t.”
The provision of the Constitution giving the war making power to Congress was dictated, as I understand it, by the following reasons: kings had always been involving and impoverishing their people in wars, pretending generally, if not always, that the good of the people was the object. This our convention understood to be the most oppressive of all kingly oppressions, and they resolved to so frame the Constitution that no one man should hold the power of bringing this oppression upon us. But your view destroys the whole matter, and places our President where kings have always stood. Write soon again.
James Madison on Friday, February 8th, 1788 warned;
But the great security against a gradual concentration of the several powers in the same department, consists in giving to those who administer each department the necessary constitutional means and personal motives to resist encroachments of the others. The provision for defense must in this, as in all other cases, be made commensurate to the danger of attack. Ambition must be made to counteract ambition. The interest of the man must be connected with the constitutional rights of the place. It may be a reflection on human nature, that such devices should be necessary to control the abuses of government. But what is government itself, but the greatest of all reflections on human nature? If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary. In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself. A dependence on the people is, no doubt, the primary control on the government; but experience has taught mankind the necessity of auxiliary precautions.
What's often missed, is the subtext of Madison's warning, and central to the thesis of this essay, clarifies that yes, Government is supposed to represent the will of the people (or what they're willing to tolerate), but what happens when "the people" are "guided" to a particular view? Why is propaganda so prevalent and effective? Why do we reject the very clear evidence and science that entire populations can in fact be "rewired" to a particular view?
In other words, combining the warnings of Nietzsche, Lincoln and Madison's warning leads to the conclusion that yes, if "properly guided" the people can be taught to "yearn for a king", something which again, we've seen happen in practice across the world.
In closing, while none of this information is new but we're reaching the apex of a long arc, and if you've read this and thought one or more of;
Then you're exactly part of the problem I'm warning of. I'm not saying vote for Trump, I'm not saying vote for Biden. I'm not saying to vote at all, or that voting actually has much to do with it in the first place.
I'm pointing out a very simple fact expressed once by Benjamin Franklin, and even though the context was endlessly butchered, the real context makes it far more relevant;
In January 1775 Benjamin Franklin (1796-1790) was part of an American delegation sent to Britain in an attempt to resolve the outstanding disagreements between the Crown and the colonies. Seventeen points were up for discussion of which several were rejected outright by the Crown while others were rejected by the colonies. Franklin’s comments regarding the last two points produced one of his most famous sayings from the period:
As to the other two acts, (i.e. 16. The American admiralty courts reduced to the same powers they have in England, and the acts establishing them to be reënacted in America; and 17. All powers of internal legislation in the colonies to be disclaimed by Parliament) the Massachusetts (sic) must suffer all the hazards and mischiefs of war rather than admit the alteration of their charters and laws by Parliament. ‘They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.’
The context explained in the analysis makes it ever more clear;
It is interesting to see where the main lines of disagreement lay between the colonists' delegation to London and the Crown in early 1775 which one would think would have been the last opportunity at some kind of reconciliation before independence was declared and war broke out. The sticking points for the Crown were the 8th, 11th, and 17th Articles which were declared to be “inadmissible” or were “refused absolutely”: “8. No troops to enter and quarter in any colony, but with the consent of its legislature. 11. The late Massachusetts and Quebec Acts to be repealed, and a free government granted to Canada. 17. All powers of internal legislation in the colonies to be disclaimed by Parliament.” The payment of back taxes might be negotiable but when it came to the stationing of troops or placing limits on the power of Parliament over colonial legislatures no compromise was possible without giving up political power. Franklin’s remarks about the trade offs between “essential liberty” and “a little temporary safety” seem to have been directed at those in the colonies who could see that further compromise was no longer possible by the Crown and that it was up to the colonies to cave in in order to maintain the peace. Franklin was urging them that to do this would be to give up the entire game and thereby scuttle any chance for real liberty and independence in the colonies.

The king is dead, long live the king.

TL;DR : Shit is fucked. Read it.

The story of Dr. 7 (Three year challeneg)
The story of Dr. 7
I’d like to tell you about my journey to the year 2024 when a League two side lifted the Champions League Trophy and the league two title . This is how I got there.
I'm using Salford City
Established 1940
Club worth 2.16 mil
Transfer budget 1.69 mil
The Objective is to win 7 trophies in 1 year.
  1. Champions league
  2. European super cup
  3. Community shield
  4. Fa cup
  5. League cup
  6. League 2 championship or play offs
  7. EFL trophy
I'll be playing on professional difficulty and allowing replays, I feel a higher setting and especially no replays would make this impossible.
This will take 2 seasons to set up.
Season 1 Starts
The of goal of year 1 is to win the league Cup and thus gain entry to the UEFA Europa League
I will simulate the majority of league games and other Cup games
The Club wants me to win the League and reach the last 32 in the FA cup.
EFL Cup Round 1
Nottingham forest vs Salford
Salford won 1 nil. The first of what may well be many ugly games of football.
Only signing
2.3k a week 61 rated free agent CAM-Lewis
EFL Cup Round 2
Salford vs Rochdale
3 nil victory, the Cup run is certainly underway.
EFL Cup Round 3
Salford vs West Brom
Another 1 nil win. This team is very strong physically and great for running down the last 10 minutes.
EFL Cup last 16
Salford vs Watford
Another 1 nil win. First look at Premier league opponents.
A break to look at the squad set up. Currently 5 players are at the Club on loan and 3 out on loan. 7 players have less than a year on their contract.
I renewed all 7 but will have to replace at least one loan player next season.
EFL Cup quarter finals!
Arsenal vs Salford
2 - 3 victory in this end to end game. Win came after 1 reset.
A quick break before the January window opens to look at what has been happening in the simulated games.
Salford are progressing through the early rounds of the FA cup and go into 2020 with their name in the bag. We were knocked out of the EFL Trophy in the third round by Sunderland. In the league the squad showed its strength and made its way to second without my interference. So I had to alter the default starting 11 to include many weaker players to avoid accidentally finishing in an automatic promotion spot in season 1.
January 2020
EFL Cup Semi Final - Home Leg
Salford vs Liverpool
3 - 1
After 1 reset the Premier league champions suffer a heavy defeat giving us a two goal lead heading into the away leg.
EFL Cup Semi Final - Away Leg
Liverpool vs Salford
2 - 1
After coinciding in the 7th and 89th minutes a 90th minute penalty allows us into the final on aggregate. As the players leave the pitch Lee Dixon claims, 'this will be one of the biggest stories in South American football history'. Quite the analysis.
EFL Cup Final
Salford vs West Ham
The free scoring comes to an end with a 1 nil win to take the trophy, but crucially gaining entry into European football next year.
All that remains now is to sim to the end of the season and avoid promotion.
We finished 4th, a playoff spot. I simulated the play offs, frustrating we won the semi after coming back from 2 nil down, after 3 more simulations we eventually lost. Keeping us in the warm embrace league 2!
The board of directors expressed disappointment in the season, hopefully winning the Europa League and FA Cup next year will satisfy them.
Season 1 Ends
Season 2 Starts
This year our goal is to win the UEFA Europa League and qualify for Champions League football next season.
We also need to win the FA Cup to make it to the CommunityShield at the start of next season.
UEFA Europa League Qualifying Round
Salford vs FK Austria Wien -
Home leg
Comfortable 2 nil win
Away leg
3 - 1 win with a Salford own goal
On to the group stage!
Appears not, I've another play off stage first.
UEFA Europa League Qualifying Round
Home Leg
Salford vs Roenborg BK
We get a smash and grab 2 - 1 win. The team was exhausted from playing 3 games in 5 days.
Away Leg
Roenborg BK vs Salford
Classic 1 nil gets us through plus 300,000 prize money. Not bad being that winning the league Cup only got us 180,000. Also, I signed a winger named Badiashile, a 65 rated free agent.
On the group stage for real now!
UEFA Europa League Group Stage
Salford vs Borussia Mönchengladbach
3 - 0 win
Victoria Plzeň vs Salford
0 - 1 win
FC Basel 1893 vs Salford
0 - 5 win
Salford vs FC Basel 1893

Quick hope back to the UK
Emirates FA cup Round 2
Salford vs Barnsley
Easy 2 - 1 win before heading back to Europe

Salford vs Doncaster
5 - 0 win
Emirates FA Cup Round 4
Ipswich vs Salford
Easy 2 - 1 win in the snow
UEFA Europa League Round of 32
Anderlecht vs Salford

4 - 1striker Brandon Thomas-Asante got a first half hat trick
The Emirates FA Cup Round of 16
Liverpool vs Salford
2 - 1 win After 2 resets
Lucky to survive after nearly being chipped from 40 yards
On to the quarter finals
UEFA Europa League Round of 16
Olympique Lyonnais vs Salford
Home leg
1-1 draw
Emirates FA Cup Round 6 - Quarter Final
Manchester City vs Salford
A 2 - 3 victory
Very lucky to score in the first 6 mins and get a second on the break under lots of attacking pressure. Gave away 2 in the second half, before our winner trickled over the line in the 88th minute
UEFA Europa League Round of 16
Olympique Lyonnais vs Salford
Away leg
Nice 3 nil win on the road gets us into the quarter finals and we won 1.1 million pounds prize money.
UEFA Europa League Quarter Final
Villarreal vs Salford
Away leg
0 - 5, those guys were not good
Home leg
Salford vs Villarreal
1-1 draw we go through on aggregate to the semi and get win 1.5mil
I've signed 3 free agent players to make sure we have depth for the crazy number of games we will need next season.
FA Cup Semi Final
Salford vs Everton
We win 2 - 1 on to the final, looking to be against Manchester United we also get 2mil prize money
UEFA Europa League Semi final
Salford vs AC Milan
Home leg
3 - 1 looking good going into the away leg
I just picked up the manager of the month award
AC Milan vs Salford
Away leg
2-1 win, into another final, also against Manchester United 2.4 mil prize money
Sadly I finished 7th,a play-off spot again.
FA Cup Final
Manchester United vs Salford
0 - 2 win
Salford are FA cup winners! Next year we will be in the Community Shield
We pick up 4.1 million for winning
UEFA Europa League Final
Manchester United vs Salford again
We win 2 - 1 next year we will be in the Champions League & the EUFA Super Cup. We also trousers £8.5million.
We made £25.38million profit
£28.85million in prize money
Managed to lose the League 2 Play-Off Semi Final
The board is happy with my performance this season. The setup is complete.
Season 2 Ends
Season 3 Starts
This is the big one, quite literally it is all to play for. This season we will attempt to win all 7 trophies available to a club competing in the English football league.
I have a £19million transfer budget, I hope to draw some talent into league 2 with the promise of Champions League football.
I have identified the need for:
A goalkeeper
A right back
A centre half
A central defensive midfielder
It's not going to be particularly pretty football this year.
I will be recording the results of every knock out match and keeping a record of the league as we go.
I can only really afford to drop points in the league and I think I will be playing the maximum possible amount of games you can play in a season, but only if I go up via the Play-Offs.
Summer Signings -
Alex smithies (73 rated) breaks the club transfer record, joining us from Cardiff for £3million.
Veteran Kevin Mcdonald (rated 69) joins us from Fulham and takes on the captains arm band, £2million paid.
Snap up Toni Leistner (rated 73) from QPR for £2million.
70 rated Carl Jenkins on joins us from Forest for £2million.
All looking good, apart from the error of blind signing Jordan Lawrence Gabriel also from Forest for £1.6million only to realise he's valued at £450,000 and rated 62.
Anyway, £10.88million pounds lighter, the new look Salford City is ready to go!
I'm simulating the pre season tournament.
Looks like we won anyway! That will help refill the bank.
FA Community Shield
Salford vs Manchester City
3 - 2 win for FA Cup holders
1 down 6 to go! (High quality screenshot incoming)

https://preview.redd.it/kt8swr996cm51.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=268811179cdd143b13a8b2eeb80f7baba3667b5d
On to the league. I've created a decent second team that should be able to deal with league 2, I'm going to simulate the league games until January and then decide if I need to play the games.
4 points from first 2 league games
ELF Cup Round 1
Salford vs Shrewsbury
3 nil win
UEFA Super Cup
Salford vs Liverpool
Claw back for a 2 - 1 win
2 down 5 to go!
We get 4.5 million for that.

https://preview.redd.it/fmkpnj1a6cm51.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b8708944bc78beae70768dc9e89decfa72405f86
5 points from 3 simmed league games.
Recently received a few substantial transfer requests, including 2 mil for our striker and 1.6 mil for Lewis who I signed in season 1. Not bad. Unfortunately for the buyer the Salford boys don't sell out!
EFL Cup Round 2
Brentford vs Salford
4 nil win
3 points from 1 simulated league game
EFL Trophy Round 1
Salford vs Rotherham
0-0 (4-2 pens)
That was bowling shoe ugly…
After a clean run against Manchester City and Liverpool this year, I needed 1 restart to eventually beat Rotherham on penalties to advance. However,I do have mitigating circumstances, their home kit was my away kit, the whole game was a confusing clash of red and white that I think made this the hardest match to date.
OK
UEFA Champions League Group Stage
Salford vs Barcelona… Yup
We win 3 - 2, pretty much what you would expect after the Rotherham debacle.
3 points from 1 league game.
EFL Cup Round 3
Salford vs Bournemouth
1 nil win
1 point from 1 league game
UEFA Champions League Group Stage
FC Porto vs Salford
2 nil win
3 points from 1 league game
EFL Trophy Round 2
Salford vs Tranmere Rovers
We win 5 nil, much better than the first round
7 points from 3 league games
UEFA Champions League Group Stage
Bayer 04 Leverkusen vs Salford
1 nil win
3 points from 1 league game
EFL Cup Round 4
Stoke City vs Salford
Another shameful reset required before we win 3 nil.
0 points from 1 league game
UEFA Champions League Group Stage
Salford vs Bayer 04 Leverkusen
6 nil win - lots of clean sheets this year
FA CUP Round 1
Carlisle vs Salford
4 nil win
EFL Trophy - Area Quarter Final
Doncaster vs Salford
Second knock out tournament in 4 days
Doncaster are at home but I'm making them play in their blue away kit, because I'm not having a repeat of the Rochdale disaster.
We won 5 - 1
7 points from 3 league games, but the best CB is out for 5 weeks.
UEFA Champions League Group Stage
Barcelona vs Salford
3 - 3 draw
I won the manager of the month
6 points from 2 simulated league games
FA Cup Round 2
Salford vs South End
Very unconvincing 1 nil win from a weakened squad
EFL Trophy - Area Semi Final
Salford vs Bristol Rovers
5 nil win
UEFA Champions League Group Stage
Salford vs FC Porto
I simulated this game with a fully rotated squad as we have definitely qualified. We lost 2 nil, went through to the knockout stage and gave Porto their only points of the tournament.
We got 27 million in prize money
3 points from 1 league game
EFL Cup Quarter Finals
Salford vs Everton
3 - 1 win puts us into the last 4
12 points from 4 simulated league games leaves us top of league 2 at the start of 2022. We are 4 points ahead of second place Walsall. I'm going to keep simming league games until March.
I won manager of the month again. Transfer window opens, I'm hoping to sign a really decent right winger.
FA Cup Round 3
Bolton vs Salford
1 nil win
EFL Cup Semi Final - Away Leg
Manchester City vs Salford
3 - 3 draw, I was 3 nil up and then fell apart.
9 points from 3 summed league games
Just got a 4.3 mil transfer offer for my youth academy Centre Back. That must surely be a record for League 2. I declined.
FA Cup Round 4
Salford vs West Ham
1nil win
EFL Cup Semi Final - Home Leg
Salford vs Manchester City
4 - 1 (7 - 4 agg)
In the first 4 minutes; I scored, Man City conceded a penalty and received a red card meaning that 9 minutes into the game I was 2 nil up against 10 men.
In the interest of transparency I must admit I did have to reset after losing on penalties in my first attempt.
January Signings
Both from West Brom. Darnel Furlong (74) for a fee of 4.1 mil, a club record signing. Along with Oliver Burke who will join at the end of the season, not ideal.
4 points from 2 simmed league games.
EFL Trophy - Area Final
Salford vs Accrington
Pretty unconvincing 3 - 2 win
3 points from 1 simulated league game
UEFA Champions League Round of 16 - Away Leg
Inter Milan vs Salford
2 nil win
A brace from our CAM rounds out a near perfect trip to Italy
3 points from 1 simulated league game.
A quick look at the league so far as we finish our February fixtures, record of W26, D7, L1 this puts us on 85 points. 1 ahead of Walsall in 2nd and 10 ahead of Gillingham in 3rd. I'll keep simulations going until April.
EFL Cup Final
Tottenham Hotspur vs Salford City
1 nil win
3 down 4 to go!

https://preview.redd.it/6u625ocb6cm51.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c1b410cbb1384affaa8177cb6c705510bceee29d
After only 3 days
FA Cup Round 5
Manchester City vs Salford
3 - 3 after extra time
We win 3 - 2 on penalties after a very tense shoot out.
Walsall have taken 1st place in the league, but I have 3 games in hand. 3 points from 1 simulated league game.
UEFA Champions League Round of 16 - Home leg
Salford city vs Inter Milan
0 - 0 draw puts us through on aggregate. I’m pleased to keep that Inter team out, being that it contained Aguero, Lukaku and Aubameyang.
FA Cup Quarter Finals
Salford vs Chelsea
2 - 1 win keeps the dream alive
12 points from 4 simulated league games puts us on 100 points, 4 ahead of Walsall with 3 games in hand. I also pick up another manager of the month award.
Drum roll please...the moment has finally arrived...the game we have been waiting for...the Cup that is the jewel in the crown...that is made up of 7 trophies...Here...we...go...
English Football League Trophy FINAL
The tituns of Ipswich take on the giants of Salford (making them both seem normal sized).
In a nip and tuck fixture, Salford scrap their way to the title with a 7 nil win.

https://preview.redd.it/cs7s7j2c6cm51.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f8b8fad0dc01f43f78f705c07678c5d82f4da548
4 down 3 to go!
UEFA Champions League Quarter Final - Away Leg
Barcelona vs Salford City
We lost 3 - 2 giving us some work to do at home
0 points from 1 league game
UEFA Champions League Quarter Final - Home
Salford vs Barcelona
An 89 minute goal gives us a 1 nil win and puts Salford through on away goals, that was pretty sweet.
6 points from 2 simulated league games
FA Cup Semi Final
Tottenham Hotspur vs Salford
1 nil win
UEFA Championship League Semi Final - Away Leg
FC Bayern Munchen vs Salford City
1 nil win gives us a narrow lead and an away goal.
We have won the league title with 4 games to spare all simulations. I'm hoping to get to see the trophy presentation.
UEFA Championship League Semi Final - Home Leg
Salford City vs FC Bayern Munchen
Into the final with a 4 - 2 win.
Unfortunately it looks like I simulated the game where the EFL League 2 Trophy was presented so no picture for that one. We also ended the season with 3 games in hand meaning we played for two weeks longer than our nearest rivals. Here the final table.

https://preview.redd.it/afvwx3pc6cm51.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=908f6eaaefdde450ef50454ccaf4dc6737b4e657
5 down 2 to go
FA Cup Final
Salford vs Liverpool
3 - 2 win achieved in extra time

https://preview.redd.it/1r5s5x5d6cm51.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=66d301fbade813b4f0c35ec7e1b8585cda4f3978
6 down
UEFA Champions League Final
Manchester City vs Salford
We won 2 - 1
And that is 7 out of 7

https://preview.redd.it/8ofbknsd6cm51.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e23d0cb9251c96bbd0b4071238eaf8a299fce95d
So that's it, the most decorated season it is possible to have in word football.
A few interesting statistics:
  • We played 88 games winning 74, drawing 10 and losing 4.
  • Scored 208 goals
  • Salford made 94.3 million pounds in prize money in the 3rd season
  • Goalkeeper Alex Smithies played 83 games of football in his first season
  • I didn't receive one international managerial offer
I'm going to take the team into retirement, but if I wanted to continue I would have a transfer budget of 29.9 million pounds to take on League 1.
Sadly there is no viewable trophy case in Fifa so I will have the below picture by way of record.

https://preview.redd.it/75w0i9he6cm51.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a72fb94304ec194042634283629c14285449515b
The End.

I’d like to tell you about my journey to the year to the year 2024 when a League two side lifted the Champions league trophy and the League to title.

0 - 3 win
Quick hope back to the UK
Emirates FA cup Round 2
Salford vs Barnsley
Easy 2 - 1 win before heading back to Europe

Salford vs Doncaster
5 - 0 win
Emirates FA Cup Round 4
Ipswich vs Salford
Easy 2 - 1 win in the snow

(High quality screenshot incoming)

https://preview.redd.it/7ukeb5uw4cm51.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7baf3b1264f82db1751477863c9a3b1c4516be73
On to the league. I've created a decent second team that should be able to deal with league 2, I'm going to simulate the league games until January and then decide if I need to play the games.
4 points from first 2 league games
ELF Cup Round 1
Salford vs Shrewsbury
3 nil win
UEFA Super Cup
Salford vs Liverpool
Claw back for a 2 - 1 win
2 down 5 to go!
We get 4.5 million for that.

https://preview.redd.it/sbe5qxqx4cm51.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c0a1e85bed181ecb64ce06206eb5451908abe049
5 points from 3 simmed league games.
Recently received a few substantial transfer requests, including 2 mil for our striker and 1.6 mil for Lewis who I signed in season 1. Not bad. Unfortunately for the buyer the Salford boys don't sell out!
EFL Cup Round 2
Brentford vs Salford
4 nil win
3 points from 1 simulated league game
EFL Trophy Round 1
Salford vs Rotherham
0-0 (4-2 pens)
That was bowling shoe ugly…
After a clean run against Manchester City and Liverpool this year, I needed 1 restart to eventually beat Rotherham on penalties to advance. However,I do have mitigating circumstances, their home kit was my away kit, the whole game was a confusing clash of red and white that I think made this the hardest match to date.
OK
UEFA Champions League Group Stage
Salford vs Barcelona… Yup
We win 3 - 2, pretty much what you would expect after the Rotherham debacle.
3 points from 1 league game.
EFL Cup Round 3
Salford vs Bournemouth
1 nil win
1 point from 1 league game
UEFA Champions League Group Stage
FC Porto vs Salford
2 nil win
3 points from 1 league game
EFL Trophy Round 2
Salford vs Tranmere Rovers
We win 5 nil, much better than the first round
7 points from 3 league games
UEFA Champions League Group Stage
Bayer 04 Leverkusen vs Salford
1 nil win
3 points from 1 league game
EFL Cup Round 4
Stoke City vs Salford
Another shameful reset required before we win 3 nil.
0 points from 1 league game
UEFA Champions League Group Stage
Salford vs Bayer 04 Leverkusen
6 nil win - lots of clean sheets this year
FA CUP Round 1
Carlisle vs Salford
4 nil win
EFL Trophy - Area Quarter Final
Doncaster vs Salford
Second knock out tournament in 4 days
Doncaster are at home but I'm making them play in their blue away kit, because I'm not having a repeat of the Rochdale disaster.
We won 5 - 1
7 points from 3 league games, but the best CB is out for 5 weeks.
UEFA Champions League Group Stage
Barcelona vs Salford
3 - 3 draw
I won the manager of the month
6 points from 2 simulated league games
FA Cup Round 2
Salford vs South End
Very unconvincing 1 nil win from a weakened squad
EFL Trophy - Area Semi Final
Salford vs Bristol Rovers
5 nil win
UEFA Champions League Group Stage
Salford vs FC Porto
I simulated this game with a fully rotated squad as we have definitely qualified. We lost 2 nil, went through to the knockout stage and gave Porto their only points of the tournament.
We got 27 million in prize money
3 points from 1 league game
EFL Cup Quarter Finals
Salford vs Everton
3 - 1 win puts us into the last 4
12 points from 4 simulated league games leaves us top of league 2 at the start of 2022. We are 4 points ahead of second place Walsall. I'm going to keep simming league games until March.
I won manager of the month again. Transfer window opens, I'm hoping to sign a really decent right winger.
FA Cup Round 3
Bolton vs Salford
1 nil win
EFL Cup Semi Final - Away Leg
Manchester City vs Salford
3 - 3 draw, I was 3 nil up and then fell apart.
9 points from 3 summed league games
Just got a 4.3 mil transfer offer for my youth academy Centre Back. That must surely be a record for League 2. I declined.
FA Cup Round 4
Salford vs West Ham
1nil win
EFL Cup Semi Final - Home Leg
Salford vs Manchester City
4 - 1 (7 - 4 agg)
In the first 4 minutes; I scored, Man City conceded a penalty and received a red card meaning that 9 minutes into the game I was 2 nil up against 10 men.
In the interest of transparency I must admit I did have to reset after losing on penalties in my first attempt.
January Signings
Both from West Brom. Darnel Furlong (74) for a fee of 4.1 mil, a club record signing. Along with Oliver Burke who will join at the end of the season, not ideal.
4 points from 2 simmed league games.
EFL Trophy - Area Final
Salford vs Accrington
Pretty unconvincing 3 - 2 win
3 points from 1 simulated league game
UEFA Champions League Round of 16 - Away Leg
Inter Milan vs Salford
2 nil win
A brace from our CAM rounds out a near perfect trip to Italy
3 points from 1 simulated league game.
A quick look at the league so far as we finish our February fixtures, record of W26, D7, L1 this puts us on 85 points. 1 ahead of Walsall in 2nd and 10 ahead of Gillingham in 3rd. I'll keep simulations going until April.
EFL Cup Final
Tottenham Hotspur vs Salford City
1 nil win
3 down 4 to go!

https://preview.redd.it/b7i5c9mz4cm51.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=162f7035eec3d2e2e3ef94e3f8d2d5e6a2349852
After only 3 days
In a nip and tuck fixture, Salford scrap their way to the title with a 7 nil win.

https://preview.redd.it/3il9mgg05cm51.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dc46fec6bd469456feeb7935f6b4a747de51635e
Here the final table.

https://preview.redd.it/bzsncog15cm51.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b238b41357adcad774e7a02449fbf2be2a5c596f
5 down 2 to go
FA Cup Final
Salford vs Liverpool
3 - 2 win achieved in extra time

https://preview.redd.it/e8rots525cm51.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3c649ba6991725507fcb9f6cf2e2f415c7dbd995
6 down
UEFA Champions League Final
Manchester City vs Salford
We won 2 - 1
And that is 7 out of 7

https://preview.redd.it/grbqnf135cm51.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3959234cd296a2702520ca583ff952ec58960725
Sadly there is no viewable trophy case in Fifa so I will have the below picture by way of record.

https://preview.redd.it/a0mvbqy35cm51.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=728a8f51362b469409e1a8ef02917aa6cb6565da
The End.

Training

Male, 29 years old.
Over the last 8 years I've been a casual runner, emphasis on the casual, not more than 3 a week and stopping for months or years at a time. 1 marathon and two 1/2 marathons. After reaching peak weight in February (work trip to US did not help) of 115kg at 6'1 I was struggling to run 5k in 35 minutes. When lock-down started I took it as a great opportunity to create a solid routine and have dropped to 96.6kg as of yesterday, mostly through CICO. I wanted to increase my runs per week but, going all out most runs, I found it really hard to run more than 2 days in a row. I stumbled across low-HR training and really liked the idea of slowly down, enjoying the runs, and still supposedly seeing the benefits. I was convinced mostly by a TED talk by Stephen Seiler on the benefits of training mostly low intensity. I was also helped out a lot on this subreddit, so thank you to the many redditors who answered my questions!
I based my training mostly off MAF (180-age is your target max HR during a run), 151bpm for me. I know it's not massively scientific but runs felt great at that HR, even if I was slowing to a walk for the first few weeks. It felt like I was solidly in my aerobic zone. The idea is as your aerobic fitness improves you will be able to increase your pace whilst keeping a low HR, and be less susceptible to injury and fatigue not going all out. It was a bit of an epiphany for me that running slower can make you fitter, but thought it was worth a short.
For reference when running regularly last year I would call 5:45min/km a high intensity pace I could only keep up for 5km. Over the next 12 weeks I built up my distances not worrying to much about pace, and by week 5 I started to see a great improvement in pace at the same HR. I began at around 7min/km 12 weeks ago and by last week was at 5:59/km average. It was so satisfying finding I could run faster without feeling like i'd done much more work. I know I've been very lucky in that many people find this training takes 6 months minimum, I saw good results in 3. Being cynical you could probably argue the fact I was increasing my mileage was having a much bigger impact on my pace than low-HR training, but if nothing else running slowly meant I could go from 50km a month to 210km whilst feeling not much fatigue.
I ran every run 'easy pace'/under 151bpm (occasionally over) for 12 weeks. 5 days a week, building up to 55km a week. I didn't introduce any speed work, though I will in the next few weeks. My longest training run was 17km.
Overall I didn't plan nearly as much as I should have for a 1/2 marathon race, but I knew I had the mileage down and I wanted to test out the low-HR training results for the last 3 months. As I was doing this solo I wasn't so worried if I had to bail out with tiredness, so that helped me push and not hold back.
My prior PB for half marathon was 2:11, 2018, Greater Manchester Marathon. Training for that was 2 hard runs a week, and a long easy run. Not enough knowledge or understanding of training principles at all.

Pre-race

Went for a nice walk at lunch, had a small dinner at 17:30 and starting running at 20:30! Wife's birthday dinner the night before acted as carb load.

Race

KM 1-5 After 12 weeks running with my eyes fixed on my HR monitor it felt amazing to forget all that and just run. I had missed it and I had to stop myself from going too quickly! I tried to hit 5:42min/km to hit a 2 hour finish time. Felt comfortable and happy.
KM 6-14 Feeling great and endorphins rushing to the head I decided to pick up the pace a bit, and took it below 5:15min/km. Not my best idea, and I paid for it later in the race. I'm terrible at pacing myself, and it's even harder without a pacemaker. Felt good up until km 12 though, before starting to lag.
KM 15-20 Shortly before KM 15 I had a horrible realisation it was nearly 10pm on a Sunday, I had forgotten to bring any water and had forgotten a mask to enter a shop. As soon as I realised that, of course I started to feel dehydrated and headache appeared. I remembered a public water fountain about 2.5km away and rerouted to head there.
It was during this period that I hit the wall twice, getting a bad stitch and having to slow down to nearly walking pace. An old shoulder injury also appeared for good measure and I grunted and squealed my way through residential streets at 10pm at night. I can't imagine how it sounded to anyone with the window open... This close to finishing and on track for a PB it would have taken my leg to fall off for me to stop and I managed to keep going.
KM 20 Hitting the last mile is always magical in a long distance race, the pain fell away and I managed the last mile as close to a sprint as I could get to, reaching 4:25min/km in KM 20! I crossed the line and kept going for 200m just to make sure Strava would register the half marathon distance.

Post-race

Felt super happy, not only did I hit sub-2 hour 1/2 marathon but I got a 10km PB to boot at 55 minutes! Best of all I felt I had I had another 3-4 minutes in me, and will definitely be attempting a 10km PB attempt next week, aiming for 50 minutes.
I can't stress enough how satisfied I've been with the low-HR training, it enabled me to run longer, enjoy my runs, stay injury free, and see a dramatic increase in my endurance. I know it's nothing revolutionary but I feel a lot of casual runners like me assumed that if you want to get faster you need to exclusively be pushing yourself as hard as you can. No Pain No Gain and all that (yes I watched the Stephen Seiler TED talk, you should too). This has completely reserved that mentality for me. I know I will need to introduce speed work to keep improving, but I couldn't be happier and more into my running as I am now.

  • Lisa Vanderpump Opens Up About Her Finances Taking a Hit Amid Pandemic (Reality Blurb/Give Them Lala... with Randall podcast) "While Lala described Lisa as “wealthy [as f**k]” during the episode after Lisa revealed that she is now doing her own nails, Lisa clarified that she “used to be” wealthy prior to the pandemic before saying she hopes it will be safe to reopen her restaurants soon. “Five months of paying rent and insurance, and having no business is taxing, stretching, [has been] a bit of a nightmare. But we’ll get back on track soon,” she shared. “When we do decide to open, we have good-sized patios. Pump is 90 percent garden. TomTom has two gardens and we can put tables outside. So we are very fortunate with that but we’ve just been waiting for it to be safe.” “Vanderpump Garden is open but distancing is essential and Caesars is doing a really good job with that,” she stated about her Las Vegas eatery which she opened last year. The Pump Rules boss also admitted during the interview that she helped her two children, Pandora Sabo and Max Todd, buy their homes. “I did buy them both… gave them the deposit for a place to live and they both have a mortgage,” shared Lisa. “Pandora and Jason have a mortgage and Max has a mortgage. I gave them a start but I like them to have their responsibilities.”

  • Teresa Giudice: How She Feels About Dating After Divorce From Joe Is Finalized (HollywoodLife Exclusive) “Teresa is having fun and flirting with men but she’s not dating anyone seriously. It’ll probably be some time before that happens but her friends are trying to set her up,” an insider close to the Real Housewives of New Jersey star spilled to HollywoodLife EXCLUSIVELY. “She seems to feel weird about it because of her younger daughters, so maybe when they’re a bit older,” the source added. “The girls aren’t ready for her to date and she’s really busy with them and filming that it’s just not at the top of her priority list. Maybe one day she’ll be open to a relationship and love again, but right now, she’s still healing from the end of her marriage and focusing on herself,” the insider explained. “She’s in the best place she’s been in quite sometime and you can tell how light and happy she is. The girls are doing well too and Gia being home so much has helped Teresa out tremendously. She is able to get out and have fun and unwind. She didn’t get to do that for a long time while Joe was away.” “Joe isn’t dating anyone seriously either for the same reasons. He’s missing his girls tremendously and that consumes his thoughts a lot,” the source said. “The family is all on FaceTime all day, every day. He sees his family often and has made friends and stays busy with work. This is a new chapter for all of them. The girls can’t wait to see their dad. As soon as it’s safe, it will happen,” they also noted. Despite the divorce, Teresa and Joe have maintained a friendly relationship — and are even going to be working together to sell sex toys! The duo have partnered with European distributor Zalo USA, which will be prominently featured on RHONJ‘s season 11."

Jada and August's "entanglement," as Jada dubbed it, occurred while Will and Jada were on a break of sorts from their marriage. "You know, I related to that a little more than I'd like to admit," Ashley says, recalling watching the episode of Red Table Talk on which Will and Jada discussed their relationship woes. "I was like, man, Jada. I'm with you girl," she continues. "I get it. I mean, marriage is just so hard -- and it's really hard being a public figure and having difficulties, and it's even more difficult when you decide to talk about them and say some things that aren't necessarily fitting the mold of what people think a marriage is or should be." Ashley's marriage to her husband, Michael, has been under a microscope for five years of RHOP. They have an age difference (she's a millennial, he's in his 50s) and a number of cultural differences (she's American and biracial, he's from Australia), and there hasn't been a single season where allegations of infidelity, hidden sexuality or some combination of the two aren't a topic of discussion. Season 5 is no different, as Ashley's co-star, Candiace Dillard Bassett, receives a text message with new accusations against Michael. This time, someone claims to have seen Michael out at a strip club, where he allegedly shared that he has "a boyfriend and a wife." "Obviously, Candiace and I have had our share of differences in the past, so I wasn't really keen on believing her from the beginning, because Candiace has said a lot of things that weren't true," Ashley shares of what starts to play out in this Sunday's episode. "I took it with a grain of salt... and then it unfolds and boy, does it unfold," she adds. "I mean, there's, like, layers upon layers upon layers of it." In the past, Ashley and Michael have largely brushed off the rumors, denied them or gotten involved in legal action about them. This time will be different, though, as Ashley admits Michael did make a "pretty significant" mistake. Viewers will see the 32-year-old confront her husband in an upcoming episode. "I'm truthful and I know that can be a hard thing to believe, and that people want to think that we make up things and there's all these facades around our relationship, but I really am truthful," she says. "So if there's something that needs to be talked about, if there's a hurdle that we actually do need to overcome or an issue we have to address, we're going to address it." "It's not as though I've said those things in the past to be facetious, or to just, like, you know, create this false illusion about my marriage," she adds, referencing the way the couple has handled marital speed bumps in the past. "No, if there was an issue then, I would've talked about it. When we were having issues with the restaurant [we owned], I was upfront and talked about it. When I was having issues with my mom and how my family dynamic was working, we talked about it, and this is not going to be any different. So, the things that were false, yes, I said those were false. The things that are true, I will talk about them, and if they're true, they're true." Ashley says fans will definitely learn some new information about her relationship and how it works before season 5’s end. "I'm not a conventional person and I just don't think it's gonna come as a shock to anybody," she teases. "Michael and I are an unconventional couple in many ways." The pair is still very much together, though. They recently wrapped up an extended stay at their beach house in Delaware, and are now back home in the Potomac area. (And she's not sure why Google has Michael labeled as "Ashley Darby’s ex-husband," but offers a joke guess of a petty employee of the search engine just wanting to mess with her.) "I love my husband," she declares. "He's a great husband, and my relationship is going to withstand. It's strong enough to withstand a lot. It's really going to be up to us to what we think is something we can overcome. I'm not going to let the media, or the public, or the opinions of others affect what I do and how I approach my marriage. Everyone's going to have an opinion. I'm sure there'll be some very strong reactions to what they see and what happens, but ultimately the only person who really lays next to Michael at night and has to have these discussions is me. So, that's that." (more in article and in video)

  • Lydia McLaughlin Weighs in on the New RHOC Season (bravotv.com) "Lydia still spends lots of time with her RHOC friends Gretchen Rossi, Lizzie Rovsek, and Alexis Bellino. In fact, all three women made an appearance on Glitter Town during a super glam brunch Lydia and Judy threw. Lydia actually sees Gretchen (and her adorable daughter, Skylar Gray) on a weekly basis. “We’re in a bible study together,” Lydia explained. “We’ve grown really close. She’s a wonderful mom, and she loves her little baby, and she’s just dedicated her whole life to Skylar. I’m so proud of her.” When asked how she feels about Tamra Judge and Vicki Gunvalson not returning, Lydia explained, “I felt like it was a long time coming, honestly. I think it’s a good switch-up. I’m excited to see what the cast does.” “I love Vicki, and I ran into her a couple times, and I think it’s good for her. I think she’s ready to leave,” Lydia continued. “She has a successful relationship, she has an engagement. She has a daughter, she’s a grandmother. I think that she has a lot going on. I do know that Tamra…she’s not letting it go. She’s still talking about it. I just feel bad for her, it’s kind of like, OK, you need to move on and do something else. She’s talking about the next season, and I think it’s a little…it sounds pathetic.” There are also two ‘Wives she’s not on great terms with. “Shannon [Storms Beador] and Tamra both have blocked me, so I don’t know what’s going on in their lives,” she said. “I don’t know, maybe they’ve unblocked me now. I haven’t checked lately.” Lydia went on to say that after 15 seasons, she finds it refreshing to meet some fresh faces, as it’s interesting to take a look into the lives of new people who have stories to tell."

Women's Super League, Match Week 1 - Manchester United Women vs Chelsea FC Women

Date: 6 September 2020
KO: 14:30 BST (GMT+1)
Competition: Women’s Super League
Venue: Leigh Sports Village
The 2020/21 Women's Super League season gets underway this weekend, signalling a long-anticipated turn to action for women's football in England!
In the nearly seven months since Chelsea FC Women last played in the WSL, the disruption of a global pandemic has since the curtailment of all major leagues, as well as life as we once knew it. Chelsea were awarded the title on a points-per-game basis, leaping ahead of Man City, and hence go into the 2020/21 season as WSL champions.
Chelsea last weekend drew the first blood in what is sure to be a hotly-contested title challenge this season, beating Man City Women 2-0 to win the Women's Community Shield, and earn the Blues their first silverware of the season.

A full preview of the season ahead for Emma Hayes' side can be found here.

MATCH PREVIEW

Chelsea's first league opponents are last season's 4th placed team, Manchester United. Manchester United's women's team were only reformed ahead of the 2017/18 season, winning promotion from the Championship in their first season under manager Casey Stoney. Last year was their first in the WSL, where they earned their place as the 'best of the rest' outside of the established top 3 of Chelsea, Man City and Arsenal. Serious investment in the squad has enabled them to climb the ranks of women's football quickly, and they will be looking to further bridge that gap to the top 3, this season.
Manchester United's additions this summer include include England international Lucy Staniforth, Spain’s Ona Batlle, and the 19 year old German Ivano Fuso. There are also very strong rumours of World Cup-winning USWNT players Tobin Heath and Christen Press joining Casey Stoney's project - although they will sign too late to factor into this fixure.
Chelsea have strengthened over the summer too, with the signings of Melanie Leupolz, Jessie Fleming and Niamh Charles - and all three of these players have completed a full pre-season with the Blues, and are available for selection tomorrow. Leupolz in particular was a stand out for the Blues at Wembley last weekend. A late summer signing was that of forward Pernille Harder - one of the absolute stand-out players in women's football. As her transfer was only announced last week, it is unlikely she will feature in this game.
It will be interesting to see how Chelsea line up for this game, given our wealth of options. Last weekend, Hayes dropped last season's Player of the Year and top scorer Beth England to the bench, and lined up with a front 3 of Fran Kirby, Sam Kerr and Guro Reiten, in a 4-3-3 formation.
Manchester United away is a tough test to start our 2020/21 WSL campaign - and in such a league characterised by tight title races, every fixture is crucial. After a great showing in the Community Shield last weekend, Chelsea will look to continue that form, and set a marker for the season.
HOW TO FOLLOW
The match will be played behind closed doors at Manchester United's Leigh Sports Village home, and will be streamed for free online on the FA Player website for people outside the UK. For UK viewers, the match will be shown live on BT Sport.
As always, the Chelsea FC Women Twitter will also provide live updates.

MATCH EVENTS:
  • KICK OFF! We are underway for Chelsea's first match of the WSL season!
  • 21' - Chelsea on top, but little in the way of real chances so far. Kerr's shot earns a corner, and Reiten has a shot following that.
  • 25' - GOAAAAAAALLLL!!! Chelsea are in the lead, and it's our new Special K of Kirby and Kerr who get it! Kirby gets on the end of a ball from midfield, and puts a great low cross in for Kerr, who finishes smartly. It's Chelsea 1-0 Man United!
  • 28' - Kerr has a goal disallowed for offside.
  • 31' - Telford is called into action for the first time in the Chelsea net, and makes a smart if comfortable save
  • 41' - Ji hits a stunning ball from midfield, which finds Kerr, and Mary Earps in the Man United goal makes a great save to stop the Blues from doubling their lead
  • 45' - United hit the bar! A looping header strikes the woodwork. That would have been against the run of play...
  • HALF TIME! Chelsea go into the break with a 1-0 lead over Man United
  • 54' - United have been on top so far this half. Telford does well to keep out an Ella Toone strike.
  • 58' - First Chelsea change, as Erin Cuthbert replaces Ji.
  • 60' - Man United make a change, with Lauren James (Reece's sister) replacing Jane Ross
  • 66' - Beth England comes on for Sam Kerr. What a change to be able to make...
  • 74' - Bit of a stoppage as Man United keeper Mary Earps receives some treatment. Okvist replaces Batlle for United.
  • 77' - Close! Mary Earps makes two saves in two minutes from Cuthbert, to keep the score at 1-0
  • 79' - Man United equalise on the counter attack, through Gulton, after Chelsea had missed some big chances. Disappointing.
  • 80' - Carter and Harder come on for Chelsea.
  • 90' - ARGH! Chelsea have the ball in the United box, and look so close to a goal, but can't threaten Earps.
  • FULL TIME: Man United 1-1 Chelsea. Man United peg Chelsea back, after a first half goal from Sam Kerr put the Blues ahead. Two points dropped for the Blues on the opening weekend, against a spirited Man United side.
